yeah the auto roof adds about 100-150kgs i think... definitly not a performance enhancer.... but the manual roof one isnt too bad.

You'll probably find that it will be fine on gravel - mine is. If you're down around 4500rpm and looking for torque, you should be down another gear anyway.

In an autocross - especially grass - you'll think you've got a powerslide all nicely under control then it'll spin out on you and you won't be able to catch it. Momentum from the rear engine will take over. You'll also have to learn to brake before you get to corners and then drive through them under power or again, you'll induce a spin. It's just one of the inherent characteristics of the rear engine car. Go to a track day to get to grips with it - nice safe environment and at Taupo nothing much to hit when you spin.
See ya

Probably depends on what the glass actually is i think, guy up here had troubles with his sunroof for hill climbs, was sweet for autocrosses tho, then had even more trouble when he removed the sunroof altogether can't remeber why that was, something to do with using lexan to fill the hole left by the glass i think. Think the whole no glass in the roof things is to stop say a fence post having a fairly unimpeded way of getting inside the cabin with you.

Edit

yeah true didn't read your post properly open tops need roll protection, are you allwed to do more than autocross's there without a cage, thought anything above an autocross needed a cage to enter??

Depends on the club and the event. National regulations allow for hillclimbs (and I think even some circuit stuff?) without a cage, but clubs can make specific events cage only.

As for the t-top unless there's some specific ruling it'll probably depend on the scrut's interpretation of the wording; from memory it's "open" cars (like MX-5 etc), but I could be wrong. Guess I'll find out... :)

Speaking of ZC's VS 4AGE's

i had a 91 integra (1.6 SOHC injected ZC) once upon a time
to be honest it was nothing power-wise compared to:
A) 200,000km old smallport AE92 FXGT
B) 100,000km old blacktop AE92 FXGT
C) 210,000km old silvertop AE101 FXGT

mind you all of the 4AGES are DOHC vs the SOHC of the ZC

They're all also lighter cars.... aside maybe from the AE101. Didn't you dyno that? I'm sure it didn't get enormously higher than the SOHC ZC Domani that I ran and got 73kw @ wheels with, or maybe I am thinking of another one? There were a couple of silvertops that did under 80 anyway.

I'm sorry to bump this (old) thread. I come here from time to time to read threads like these just to laugh about it :)

I've formerly owned a ae92 FXGT with Bluetop. Stripped interior etc. 960kg on weighstation.
Was nice, nothing special. Engine was absolutely fine. Done 2 years Nürburgring-Nordschleife with it, no problems.

Now I have a "new" ae92 FXGT, but with Blacktop. Interior intact. 1060kg on weighstation. So much faster lol, not even funny anymore.

Completely 100% stock, ignittion set @ 10deg. : 133,5 WHP & 144,5Nm

Image

Then it was time for some little modifications.
TTT 75mm stacks & 2.5" cat-back. Stock fuelpressure, ignition etc. etc. : 145WHP & 150,6Nm

But don't focus on the numbers too much. It's a nice engine for it's capacity and as far as I can tell, very reliable as well. Some of you might know , the Nordschleife isn't exactly a easy track for engine/car. So far 1 cracked engine mount lol. But compared to teh Honda's..it's doing pretty well. We have some of those EE9/EF9 Civic Vtec's here (SiR I think?) with B16A1 engine, just 150bhp. These cars are a bit less heavy, about 1030kg. When my car was stock (133whp on dynojet as above), it was just as fast as one of these stock Civic's from a full stop to topspeed.
On the track however, it's more a case of the driver. And that's what it makes so much fun with a 20v. The engine really comes alive on the track. Who cares it hasn't got that much torque lol, it's not like I'm gonna race in 5th gear all the time ? :D On the track my car is just a bit faster then a Civic EK4 VTi and I'm still running stock suspension except for the springs. It all comes down to the driver. The 6spd gearbox is something I'm aiming on..but I'm not sure yet..maybe it'll break down on me to fast hehe. Does someone had bad experiences with them here ?

Anyway.. long story short. Not a super engine.. but very nice.
