hilux surf 1993

hi guys ive just been offered a 1993 hilux surf 2.4 turbo desiel and i was wanting some opinions of reliability etc as i know nothing about them. any info would be great

The 2.4L turbo diesel engine can be nothing but problems, major overheating problems because of a design fault in the head. Some of them can be ok, some can just crack heads etc constantly. If you are going to get it make sure you have a compression and leak down test done. Also I hear putting a larger/less restrictive exhaust on helps alot to stop it overheating, as the turbo model has the same exhaust as the non-turbo
