If it is such a big deal to Ford then i say Chevy should take Ford to court because of the other ad with the slot cars. I doubt a Falcon would hold the road better than the full race spec Corvette

I'm pretty sure, but don't quote me on it that the message they are trying to get across is - at any stage on any stretch of road you may find a large hole, badly sealed section where it looks as tho a land mine has recently exploded. Chances of finding said section of road increases dramatically with introduction of blind corners and other pints of reduced visibility. Once you have found said section of road in all probability you will fall off a bank and roll onto some logs specifically placed for dramatic effect but mainly to prevent you rolling into yonda stream and so increasing recovery costs. Basicly a warning from ltsa about the standard of new zealands roads imho.
We probably better off either buying a helicopter or being unable to afford that going back to horse and cart - altho the horse and cart will cost more to run that the chopper with this carbon emissions thing coming in

I think theyre being to frikken cryptic with the message in that ad. They need to be blunt. I think the *idea* of the ad is good, but i can understand Fords complaint.

Nothing cryptic about it, it is blunt. The message is "go too fast around corner, loose control, smash car" Does it get any simpler than that?
It's just as 'cryptic' as all the other road safety adds.

i mean seeing some of the crash, like that "mate" one with a toyota curren, and the intersection one with the honda accord etc etc, surely they wouldn't have someone driving it and smashing it right?

yeah its a real car but the loosing control is unrealistic (its been commented on back further) looks like they hand breaked it then locked the breaks up... even of it did loose control a car like that has abs and stuff anyway (and if the guy knew how to drive he wouldint of locked up anyway)

its a road safety ad.
its targeting ppl who drive a bit fast in corners.
its not a nana state gone mad... its pointing out that ANYONE in ANY car can crash if you push too hard.
you can have fun with out being dangerous.

the reason ford are upset is the unrealistic way in which the car crashes.
THATS whats different about this one and all the other road safety ads.

other than that i see no problem with it.

Yes but I think that it is safe to say that not everybody in this world can drive.

Losing it round a corner due to speed is reason most people crash.
Or because they drive like idiots on the road.

Easy stunt to pull off... on one of the shots I'm sure the back wheels are locked up and the fronts aren't. (44 seconds, from the rear) Which would suggest the handbrake was used here.

Big continuity mistake tho, clearly was shot in two parts. Once the handbrake was pulled countersteer is applied, however when the car goes over the bank the wheels are facing the other way. Plus it was shot against different backgrounds

Also the car seems to have a redicilous amount of tint, including the windscreen and rear screen... probably to hide the rollcage and stunt driver, or the radio control gear and lack of driver, however they did it.

Sure, nothing to do with the ethics of the ad, just some observations.

You know, this is the second cheeky ad that they've had.

I remember hearing one on the radio recently which was a take off of Personalized Plates, where a guy says "I knew he loved his cars, so I had to get him the perfect plate. S, P, E, D, R. Speeder! The problem was, he was... And they think he was going about 130 when he hit the power pole, and it killed him instantly"

Something along those lines, I can't remember it word for word. But even then I was thinking "Man, I'd be pretty pissed off with that ad if I were from Personalized Plates"
