Commonwhores from VB - VZ are all based on the Vauxhall Carlton/Opel Omega floorpan, so they do in essence have something to do with GM's European large car.

VE is the only exclusively Australian designed Commodore.

Interestingly enough, the SV6 VZ uses an Aisin (Toyota owned company....) 6spd auto trans.
