Owners details

Postby JT » Wed May 07, 2008 1:07 am

My bro's car got hit from behind while crawling along cos the dude behind wasn't paying attention. My bro got the guys name, his reg plate and ph numbers. My bro checked the numbers were legit but now the guy keeps hanging up now that he's trying to sort it out. Big mistake was not getting the guys address and he can't find where he wrote his home ph number down but he does have the guys cell ph number.

Can you still find out the owners details with a plate number? I know were/have proposing changes to the LT Act last year to protect owners details so just wondering what he can do to get this sorted out. Can you take someone to the disputes tribunal without a known address?

why not go to the police and see what they suggest? Your brother isn't in the wrong so I guess maybe even just threaten to go to the police to the guy, if that doesn't change anything i'd be visiting your local station before doing much else

or you could go to www.carfax.co.nz put in the rego and pay the $10 to get the report which looks to include ownership information, then look them up in the white pages.

Then its just a case for the toyspeed debt collection team to deal with, been a while since we last had to all turn up at someones place to get something sorted

Cheers guys,

Have sent you a pm ke70.

My Bro went to the Police but they weren't keen on doing much about it. Think we'll just try to sort it out without them. Also have his drivers licence number if anyone is able to access info with that.

Perfect when its a compnay car...just call the said company, ask for the GM (General Manager), and then tell him what happend.
Car will be fixed in no time at all
:)

Edit: If said GM is a w*nker, mention something about the media finding out that his employes like to give false info at car accidents, and he will change his tune
