You mean apart from cage seats belts etc.
Off the top of my head
National rally licence
1st aid kit to spec
Race gear - either single layer with wollen undies or 2 layer jobbies
Helmet up to required specs
Tow Rope, possibly mandatory but a good idea to carry one if not
Someone silly enough to sit next to you while you do it

You don't need intercom and trip meter but they are rather helpfull.
Everyone else here will add anything i've missed

You litterally don't need a trip meter, if your co-driver is onto it enough they can call corners as they see them, it's not all that hard to judge how far along the road you are while co-driving - normally you have a better idea than the driver - i've done it before when the trip meter went on the blink during a stage - sure you can't give as much warning as with the trip meter but you can normally call it around 150 out as there are arrows at 100 from all the corners.
Tarmac is a bit faster generally so the 150 ahould give you 3 seconds minimum and 10 on the outside, heaps of time and if you tell the driver when you think your getting close what the corner instruction is and then just say 100 as you pass the arrows you'l be pretty right
There are a couple of people i know who do pretty well in clubmans rally who don't have trip meters in there car at present
There new car is going to have one but will be a period thing anyways

Cage is best to ask your cage builder what they recomend, specs stay pretty much the same for circuit, tarmac and gravel.

A large pile of money! :D

Best to join a car club and maybe find someone competing and go along as their service crew for an event or two, start doing a few hillclimbs and bent sprints , after all a rally stage is just a long bent sprint with someone sitting beside you reading a route book.
The specs for a cage are all on the motorsport New Zealand web site.

yeah specs on the website.
the key to designing a tarmac/rally cage is remember that where there's rally's, there's trees! and poles etc that are not found at race tracks.
so while the specs may say a single side intrusion bar is ok for club stuff. do you really want just one bar between you and a 100kmh tree?
bearing in mind the max speed for stages is much higher than that....
i've seen rather a few legal cages that you wouldn't get me in. and im not meaning due to the size of my ass

^^ am competing in said event

Come along to events such as these, start with autocrosses as you don't need a cage in these and move into hill climbs rally sprints etc. Best thing to do is volunteer at an event or three and get a feel for them 8)

Yep, Quine Rd is next weekend, is an interesting (and fast) 1.5km or so of tarmac. Used to be used as part of a Targa stage,

Thames Valley and Northland Car Clubs have quite a few tarmac Hillclimbs each year, Puke and us (Hibiscus Coast) not so. However, if you belong to a club you can do any club's events you like.

For Quine Rd all you'll need cotton overalls, helmet, 0.9kg extinguisher with a steel bracket and a Motorsport NZ Clubsport competition licence. PM me if you need help with the overalls/helmet, I have spares you can borrow.
We know that four-wheel drive doesn't work in a racing car, and I proved to myself that it doesn't work very well for rallycross. I'm absolutely convinced that it has no future in rallying, either, even if the regulations allowed it. - Roger Clark (rallying legend), circa 1976

Yep, I'll be there in my Corolla (see my avatar pic), just as long as I can sort out the leak around the front of the engine. Looking forward to it, have done hardly any motorsport in the last 2 years so it will be nice to get back behind the wheel :D I'll keep an eye out for ya up north.
