True, but I guess there is always a downside to everything.

The mongrel mob down here are quite reasonable anyway. I had a friend who had 2 cars stolen from outside their place one night, after the cops had left the mongrel mob came round and apologised that a couple of their try outs has stolen them, and told them where they were. They were most apologetic, and said it wouldn't happen again, and they'd deal with the people who stole them. The cars were fine, only a broken drivers door lock on one.
Another time the same friend went away on holiday and came home a couple of days latter because they realised they'd forgotten to shut an outside door, and they found a note on the door from the mongrel mob, saying they'd shut it, and checked no one was in the house. Nothing was stolen or even touched.
I guess that's about the only benefit of living down the road from the mongrel mob house.

What debt? how can you get anyone (and who would be dumb enough) to go and collect a debt that doesn't exist? That is not debt collection - that is (illegal) stand over tactics. There needs to be a court ruling, or a contractual agreement for there to be any debt in existence.

I would just collect every scrap of evidence, get your witnesses to make affidavits in front of a J.P as to what happened go to the disputes tribunal and be professional about it and you will most likely win. - how soon you will actually get any money is another question, but then at least you have a real debt that you can have enforced.

as I doubt you'll get far without the support of the police or an insurance company.
