what is a rebuilt 4age worth?

Postby docTRD » Sun Nov 15, 2009 10:16 am

hey all,
Have a guy interested in my cressida for sale and we have sorted out a cash plus swap for a rebuilt 4age deal. The motor is a ae86 blue top one and has all the rwd bits with it etc , loom and ecu all bolt ons, think it comes with a t50 - 4a bell aswel. has been rebuilt as the guy says but I want receipts as proof etc to make it worth my while.

What are these worth ?
cheers

Going by TM prices, probably $1k-1500. Rebuild obviously means nada with no reciepts though
1988 KE70 Wagon - Slowly rusting
1990 NA6 MX-5 - because reasons
2018 Ranger - Because workcar
1997 FD3S RX-7 Type R - all brap, all the time
OMG so shiny!

Given that bluetops are a throw away item, and a proper rebuild should be able to be done for $1000 or less if buying smartly, then I would assume it's worth under $1000 with full proof of work done.
RWD may make it worth more.

IMO it's not worth a lot more than your average ok running s/h one of the same status,

but if it does have all the RWD stuff, manifolds, mounts, alt and bracket,
and the correct bellhousing etc etc,

probably worth almost $1K
but the accessories are worth more than the engine

It's still just a Bluetop,
but Bellhousing $300
Alt and Bracket $180
inlet manifold $150
RWD loom ECU etc $180

and then the engine itself.

cheers guys, yea I thought it wouldnt be worth 1500 at the most, its stil a 4age not like its a 1j or anything :p But yea since its a popular conversion item it holds its price reasonably. Don't think Il go for it .

FWIW i sold a t50 with 4a bell in good order for 750 a little while back. the other bits and pieces on the engine could add up to 3 or 400 on trademe, so its probably worth about a 1000 with a bit of patience.

Yes but would be worth more in parts than complete.
