STM are proud to be able to offer two free tech seminars at this years 4 & Rotary Nationals. We have surveyed potential show attendees with the aim of offering you the most useful and interesting content possible. Below is a brief overview of the two seminars. Both seminars will be headed by STM's tuner Andre Simon, and we will be promoting a friendly environment where questions are welcomed. Each seminar will run for approximately 30 minutes, and for those that are worried, we will make sure they don't clash with the bikini competition!
1. Basics of Modification 10:30am
This is the perfect seminar for those who want to learn more about where and how best to modify their car. The seminar will focus on the principles behind modifying your car to improve performance, and will focus on a 'value-for-money' approach to performance, so you don't go wasting hard earned money on modifications that are unnecessary or simply don't work. Learn from our years of experience in the industry. Topics will include:
- What affects engine performance
- Techniques to increase engine power
- How far can you go safely?
- Suggested modification path
- ECU basics
- Fuel system basics
- Turbo sizing and selection
- Fuel economy and driveability
- Legality
2. Basics of Engine Tuning 2pm
This seminar builds from the first seminar, and we will take a look into EFI tuning concepts. This seminar is perfect for those who have a basic understanding of engine operation, and want to learn more about how EFI systems work, and their impact on engine performance and reliability. STM have a proven reputation in tuning of performance engines, and this is your chance to pickup some important insights. Topics will include:
- EFI components and terminology
- Injector selection considerations
- MAF vs Speed Density
- What is air/fuel ratio
- Ignition timing and detonation
- Fuels and octane ratings
- Limitations of a factory ECU
- Reflashing
- Advanced ECU functions
