Mate if i had the cash i would do it in a second. :D

I'll start off with just rebuilding the small port for now i think - that will probably take me a couple of years judging by my mr2

Once i have done that i think i will either go lotus 7 or supercharged route.

thanks for all your input - had thought the flame's would fly but you have all been great :D

Sell it and build a lotus 7

Its good to see a few more people starting to think about a lotus 7's.

Best upgrade ever is to drop 1000kg off what the orginal car weighed!
Thats what my 7 is going for, from 1600kg altezza to 600kg lotus 7!

Any questions on lotus 7's just ask or have a look at http://www.lotus7.co.nz/forum/index.php

Never raced those there :P

If a Lotus 7 kit is an option, do that, hands down no arguement.
It would be very very hard to beat in terms of enjoyment as far as driving and building goes.

I'm being pedantic :P
Raced those in Japan. Infact I think that car is even in the TRD book

They raced Carinas in the BTCC and probably AE92 Hatch's (FX-GT) in the earlier Group A days

Yeah... i had to drive it to the park n ride today and i still get a kick out of driving it... its odd, its not a particularly noteworthy car, no cult following. But for some reason its still puts a smile on my face.

Leaning toward just keeping it pretty original now. Although a supercharger would not go a miss.

the AE92 might put a smile on your face, but the SW20 is gonna put a skid mark on your undies when it's all finished :)
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.

leave it NA imo, 4AGZE is still slow in real world terms and i personally prefer the revvy peaky nature of the 4AGE for maximum drive joy!!1.

I disagree.
I loved my 4AGZE powered car. Instant grunt.
It was in a AW11 though, so could make use of it.

yeah GZE is great for traffic light grand prix etc, dont get me wrong its a decent unit! but its not ACTUALLY quick, and for spirited solo driving i prefer the GE... but hey, each to their own etc :D

car

Postby docTRD » Mon Mar 22, 2010 8:11 pm

yea i think best bet would build up a reasonably crazy smallport 4age for it and put some stiffer suspension in and leave it at that. I loved my old smallport in my old 1990 corolla GT even better than 20v motors ive driven. Probably a fresh rebuild would be fun without mods :p
