Gar Grooming / Cut & Polish (in the 04)

Postby perfk » Mon Apr 18, 2011 7:42 pm

As per topic really...

Car needs a decent cut & polish to get rid of some light swirls and scratches. I am in no way confident to attempt this myself (after recently being on the receiving end of someone borrowing one of my cars and thinking he'd "do me a favour" by doing the worst cut & polish job in history).

So - tried & tested recommendations please?

What sort of car do you have? And how bad is it? If you arent confidant to do it yourself, I could take a look at it for you provided its not so bad that it needs paint correction with a machine.

Cheers

Thinking, at the moment, specifically for the rx7 (cogent's car that I have on loan)
it has very minor swirls that catch the light sometimes

I done a cut and polish on my first car, a red prelude lol. looked mint..for like a month then it faded again. Something cheap you can do to get the same effect with less effort is just wash the car then spray it with tyre shine.
zing! Sig got nuked. Sorry bout that.

Wow, people loan cars? haha

The swirls dont sound too serious, but I would honestly suggest getting the mobile guy to come and do it with his machine, as after I had spent hours on it by hand, it would work out much the same, money wise.

Dust and road grit sticks to it like a magnet, I use it on my front grille to make it look new, which works fine on the unpainted black plastic, but the overspray onto the rest of the bumper (white car) catches alot of crap

I might be able to have a look at it, I have a machine polisher and have done a few cars. I know those damn light swirls that catch the light, i hate them too

Luke and his DA polisher will transform your car far quicker than my arthritic hands could ;)
