Postby l3_vin » Sun Apr 24, 2011 9:39 pm

Hey guys, havnt owned a toyota in a while but have just picked up an ae82 for a daily. Iam after this look for it:

What wheel spec is needed to acheive a similar look? Iam looking at buying 15x7 / 15x8 +35, how flush will they be? any rubbing issues?

Thanks in advance

I dunno if this is much help. But with 15X6.5 and 205/50 tyres it rubbed a tiny bit under full lock.

Im gona take a stab and say that FXGT is on 13x8 -20 ish. 15x7+35 is not going to look stanced. Just normal.

The AE82 FX-16 pictured above is fitted with 13x10 wheels all round, guards front & rear have been modified extensively

Just buy a go-kart if you want that tyre look, Im not sure if that picture is taken overseas or not but you do realize that those wheels would be illegal here because they stick out further than the guards aye?

Pretty sure it's only illegal if the tread is past the guard

Just on lowering springs and shocks. Wasn't that low at all.

Would you know offset by any chance?

The example i showed is a much more aggresive stance than i want. There arent many pics of modified fx gt's on the net. Will 15x7 / 15x8 +35 fill the guards out quite nicely?

Yep law here is tread must not stick out past the gaurds, and tyres must not have ridiculous streach. Have had some stanced cars previously with no problem.

15x8 +35 wont fit on the back, my 15x6.5 +42 hit the shock
i'd guess to make a 8" wheel fit you would need +15 or less (combined with a lot of guard work

I doubt you could get a set up like that legal in NZ.

Easy to get steels like in that pic, but as said that car has had hubs/suspension setup modified in some way that allows them to fit ok.

Yeah as ive said i wont be going for something that extreme, its just the only example i could find. Now looking at some 15x8 0 offset, hopefully it will work. Worst comes to worst i will look at widened steelies.

15x8 with 0 offset will stick out from your guards no matter what tyre syou use - will need bolt on guards or similar to be legal.

Will also potentially kill your bearings.

At 15x7 I am going around +20 offset - this may still require some guard rolling.

I'd say at 8 inch wide you will want between +15 to +20 or so.
