Toda Racing refreshing AE86 Exhaust options

Postby Fortyone.co.nz » Mon Aug 16, 2010 3:56 pm

Just released people! The new 4-1 manifold from Toda - for peak RPM Power, not low down torque - so good for Dyno junkies, drag races or sprint racing! 42.7mm -> 60mm, still near $2000 in price, which is hefty for the old AE86! I don't know why there's a surge in parts coming out for the AE at the moment, there's surely a good reason in Japan!

Also released is their race-spec 4-2-1 (to go with the street spec 4-2-1) which is more expensive still, but if you like art IN you car, then this is the one to have! Slip-jointed, hand made, lightweight.

You're the same as us, sometimes we don't want to sell stock because it's just too damn fine to ship out. We have no need for it, we could just stare at it for days.. :P

Toybaru? =D

I think it's going to take off as a project car for sure. There's plenty of talk in the US about it - they'll lead the market I suspect. What are the options? 120hp 1.5 and 200hp Turbo boxer right? 120hp RWD I think..

But I think they'll bypass the spindles - that's the big issue with the old AE86 kits!

Not these, no. There's a big following in Japan and there are AE86 only race events. There are a lot of cars with over $100,000 in parts, development and money owing in Japan. Call them crazy. I call them hard working, well-to-do racers.

Here in New Zealand there's not a large market. There's perhaps 2 or 3 private owners that a $2000 manifold would appeal to for an 86, on our cards.

It'd be a shame not to show the parts though, they're something to droll over. I'm sure we've all had Ferrari / Lamborghini posters on our wall. We'll probably never be in a position to buy one financially or logically but they're still inspiring to look at!
