I've driven on tyres worse than that for long periods (including trackdays) and have had no issues.

It hasn't broken through any belts and isn't showing signs of bulging, so it should be fine.

May not apply to these tyres, but a lot have "rim guard" areas around the sideways for exactly this reason, so you don't curb you 20" chromes. :lol: My current low profile tyres have what looks like 10mm slapped on the side.

I think it's terrible advice to suggest you continue driving on it. Just because you can't see any belts it doesn't mean the integrity of the tyre hasn't been compromised. That looks like a decent chunk missing, leaving a definite weak-spot in the tyre's sidewall. I'm sure it would be fine in normal driving, but if you were to hit a pot-hole or something else that causes a sudden spike in pressure in the tyre, you have a much greater chance of a blow out.

I wouldn't risk it, and I certainly wouldn't recommend someone else to risk it, and if I was a WOF inspector or your insurance assessor looking over your car after you'd stacked it due to a tyre blowout mid-corner, I'd tell you to get f**ked. :)

If it's a front driver swap your fronts and rear tyes at least until you decide to get a replacement

i have failed a WOF for that, so would guess its unsafe.

as for differences as long as they are both directional or asymmetrical (as above) AND have the same speed rating you will be fine, and if your car is 4WD ALL 4 tiers have to match as they are connected by an axle

WOF's are generally the personal opinion/interpretation of the c**t doing the inspection.

I have a family, I wouldn't drive on damaged bits any further than the tyre shop.
