3D geometry models of cars

Postby Grrrrrrr! » Sun Dec 04, 2011 11:10 pm

Anybody know of a website or other resource where 3d geometry models of cars can be downloaded. Don't need to be super high poly count, just looking for something to play with in some CFD software i'm trying to learn.

Ideally there'd be models of mr2s (AW and SW) in step or iges formats, but for now anything that I dont have to create from scratch would be great.

Dunno if it will suit, but lots of people create their own cars for games such as GT Legends or GTR2. Maybe you could d/l some of those files and use the contents?

rFactor has a massive online mod database, you need to sign up these days but there are all sorts of vehicles modeled/converted. You may need some of the modding tools to be able to open the models in other software but I did similar years ago but I was just mucking around.

Yeah, the idea of using models from games had occurred to me, but not sure how easy it is to extract the geometry of the car and convert it to a useable format, i doubt its as simple as opening the file in notepad and saving co-ordinate sets to another file.. Will look at this option if I can't find anything easier
