Would love a 3sgte in a rav4,

why do they suck so much offroad? and how can u fix it?

I know that gearboxes mated to 3S/5S engines have long ratios undesirable for offroading, but chassis wise???

For starters I doubt those tiny diffs would last very long, there is a reason all the good 4wd's still have heavy live axles at the front. Some have IFS but with a lot more beefyness (new word) than a rav4. Even Hilux's with IFS blow front diff or CV's like no tomorrow.

the only 4WD'ing a RAV4 was designed to do was cross a wet paddock. Look at the rear suspension and the twig like excuses for suspension arms and driveshafts they have. It's a vehicle which is not particularly good for anything. It's not roomy inside for the size it takes up on the outside, it's not economical, it's not good off-roading etc.

I rented a 2011 last year for a trip up to Qtown, was really nice. 2.4 pulled pretty well and it was great in the snow/mud

No issues other than diff mounts and leaky front diff seals I can recall from my time at Toyota.
Can't say I've ever heard of one blowing a diff/gearbox

Sent that person an email. They didn't build it though so didn't know how it was done. They did say they had receipts for $150,000 though  Surely an extra zero on there!
