So toyspeed, i see a lot of avensis haters on here, wanting some honest opinions on them...

Missus is looking at on 04 one, LI wagon to buy. Seems quite nice, but I dont know much about them. Heard a few whingers about them, so whats the goss? Generally Ok car, or steer clear? I had a drive and yes it was fairly gutless i thought, but she does around town driving mostly, and doesn't need anything powerful. Just reasonably economical.

So I keep hearing Warwick, but why the bad rep? Is the build quality just shite, or are there specific common problems?

Yeah exspensive eletrical issues like the lights, o2 sensors. And yeah build quality is not like corollas etc
Oh and they chew brake rotors. Which prob isn't really an issue

Dont buy a manual one, they are geared for europe and are way to high,
struggle to take off up hill in first,

and being the equivilent to mitsi's GDI they surge at cruise like the older lean burn caldina's and Corona premio's.

they only surge due to carbon build up, which is due to people running them on 91. I have done a few manifold/port cleans and fixed the surge issue. however doesnt escape the issue they are a euro spec car.
