Hi guys,

I know this is not Toyota related, well it might be if you want a Toyota out of the UK.

I have a business www.europeandirect.co.nz which is bringing in mid to high end new and used euro cars, trucks and machinery from the UK.

One of the guys here at work brought in a demonstrator Merc CLS last year and saved something like 60k on buying from the local dealership, it's certainly worth looking at importing from the UK.

Only difference in the MPH dash.

I have been told to steer clear of anything imported from the UK, as they use alot of salt on the roads over there in winter and therefore the undersides rust like a mofo

the rust thing is true, but you can usually save a bundle buying brand new too.

there can be other differences that are less obvious though, many manufacturers specify certain packages for certain markets, not all options might be available here (and hence not supported by your local dealer)

i know jags and landrovers can potentially have problems with software updates for some stuff where different settings are used depending on the market etc.

but 60k is 60k

New and near new cars don't have problems with salt. 5+ years old and steer clear. New and near new also have the biggest saving from importing direct.

I quoted a merc (CLS 63 AMG 2012 delivery kms) for a client the other day $300k list at Coutts, $144k drive away through my company. This sort of saving goes a long way for any issues with NZ dealers. We also offer 3 year aftermarket warranties.

Also the UK models generally have a much much better spec eg bigger wheels, more leather, better stereos, etc etc than what is offered here new in NZ.

Hi . Good on you Don. The NZ dollar is the strongest i can ever recall it , against the Pound, so now is a great time to import.
Can you give a price indication for 2007 onwards Landrover 110 (defender)single cab flat deck(or HI Capacity Pickup). Also a Landcruiser flat deck if they are available. Any engine variant, except the V8.

Out of interest, could you do motorbikes as well?
No idea if the prices differ as much as with cars, but if they do, I could be keen on a new motocross bike.
