Freighting an engine

Postby benj » Mon May 13, 2013 12:40 pm

Any suggestions on who to use?

I need it picked up in Wellington, put on a pallet (strapped down etc) and moved to Auckland.

The important bit is that the company can put the engine on a pallet and cover it/ strap it down. I would use mainfreight, but they wont do that bit.

Cheers

Benj

Id imagine you'd be hard pressed to find a company that will do what your asking as they are taking on quite abit of liability, with alot higher chance of things being damaged and you coming back to them with problems they may have caused.

Ben - I already have a logistics account which we can use. I just need to pack it all up and get it to the depot which is my most time consuming thing.

Once it has been delivered, we will get a bill which I'll recover costs from you to pay.

Pallets are easy to find, and cut to size. Just be sure to get really sold ones as some arent intended for 100kg + engines.

Then buy a cheap set of strops from super shit auto and use all of them to secure it.

Oh, and a massive roll of glad wrap to wrap it too

Yes, I can organise wrapping, pallet, strapping etc. I'll just organise with a friend who does industrial building supplies. No issue on this end except for time to run around and do this.

Also they can deliver anywhere, not just a depot pick up, though I'd advise not delivering to an office. An engine block is inconvenient to take home on the bus or train...

Awesome! I'll get it delivered direct to the engine builder then.

Will give you a call tonight to discuss the details. I had better add a decent bottle of scotch to the price to cover your time.

Thanks
