static strap

Postby rodstr » Tue Jun 10, 2014 11:11 pm

pretty sure this is non technical but harden the $&#$% up, so here goes.

usually on a dry day after getting out of my car, I close the door to then get a static shock from the car.

So do these static straps really work? like these ones on Ebay

In theory. For the money, give it a go.

Though I think your own advice to "harden the $&#$% up" may apply here too ;)

it is all in shoes.
Cheap shit will give you shocks.
Cheap not-so-shit from safety shop and likes will not.
Try holding on to car body when you are sliding your ass on the seat, this way it will dissipate the charge before it builds up.

All you need to do to avoid the shock is hold the door frame as you step out and put your foot on the ground :)

I can still remember when half the cars on the road had anti-static straps on the back.

Must be time to restart the trend?

I admit to almost crying the first time I watched that.

It sounds like a seriously powerful car, on the limiter, but.....
