Poor quality recording to view

Postby Flannelman » Tue Jun 17, 2014 11:27 pm

Over the weekend I participated in a track day at Taupo. We used the short track three.
As an experiment, I taped the iPhone to the headrest of the passenger seat.

When home and on the laptop I viewed it and was disappointed with it. The picture is sideways due to the position of the phone while recording and the vibrations have distorted the picture. The only saving grace is the sound. Under experimental conditions, I was running an open plenum on the stock ecu controlled silver top.

Unfortunately I'm a perfectionist. Because the picture quality is poor I haven't posted it up here. However if enough people wish to "hear it" comment now .

It also gives me some time as the Internet at home is down until Friday. Also more than enough time for some good debate over "film quality standard"

there are a number of free video editors which allow you to rotate the video before upload.
I think people would enjoy hearing the engine :)

Up grade to android for in car testing perfection :P

maybe a car cradle will work better. I've recorded several times from a car holder both on and off road and never had vibration issues.

Don't listen to him, he doesn't know what he's talking about. iPhone will work fine in a Car Cradle, or get a proper car mount for it with those anti-vibration pad things. Alternatively get a GoPro with fixed mounting for next time?

iPhone has worked well with in car video for me. Made up a custom cradle that hangs over the roll bar

Optrix make a waterproof case for iPhone 4/5 with a variety of mounts and a 175 degree lens built in to the case. May be another option to look at. http://www.optrix.net.nz/xd5.html

Forgive me for the time taken for this. A full time course and job leaves very little time for anything else.

The sound isn't anywhere near as loud as if it would be "in the flesh". And no, the whistle is from the intake, not a turbo or supercharger.
