Tuning Recommendations in Auckland LinkG4

Postby MrOizo » Wed Apr 29, 2015 4:27 pm

Hey peoples,

I'm finally in the final stages of my car being 'completed'. Whats left are a few loose ends that need sorting and a tune.
I'm going to go for a initial tune to get it running and see if anything else needs doing so nothing too major.

Who in the Auckland region are the ones to go to for tuning? I have heard good things about GDS. I guess if no one has any better recommendations, I'll just have to go there :o

I have 2JZGTE, Link G4 Extreme ECU.

Cheers!

Brendan @ Convert Motorsport / Nite Parts. Hes very experienced with 1j/2j and works with GDS for dyno work. Good pricing also.

Is it a fresh built engine or previously run in? If you need a base start up tune so you can check for leaks etc and drive around I can probably help if needed.

Thanks for the reply. I had Brendan do my front pipe and mate up exhaust. He said to give him a call when I was ready for a tune and he'd sort me out. I txt/FB message'd him not too long ago but got no reply. I'll try again!

It's a stock 2JZ which hasn't been opened. I have some pretty good values and it runs pretty nicely so have been able to check for initial leaks. I'm just worried of actually loading it up and discovering leaks :p

Thanks for your suggestion. I'll give them a call or visit soon.
I have all wiring done already so shouldn't need any of that fiddles with.

What are these places charging and what should I expect for the duration of tune?

Cheers!

Best bet with Brendan is to give him a call - hes quite busy. I'm likely going to see him in the next few days so can mention it if you want? He'll be able to get a road tune on it fairly easily then organise dyno if you wanted and hes likely to be cheaper than most.

regarding price tune is usualy around $1000 if no wiring or anything like that needs to be messed with, i remember they did all sorts of test on my setup before just strapping it onto the dyno, cooling system pressure tests and intercooler piping tests all of that stuff, if i remember correctly my silvia cost around the $1000 mark a few years ago to tune in tauranga.
