Good workshop in Wellington for rebuilding a carburetor?

Postby Mr Ree » Tue May 09, 2017 11:23 am

Hi TS'ers,
a friend of mine recently bought a 1988 Hilux (one owner, garaged its entire life, and with a full service history etc) but he told me its been running a bit rough lately, and it needed to have the choke on in order for it to start, and stay running, even when it was warm, so I had a look at it for him and discovered the entire top half of the carb is loose, and can be lifted upwards from where the main gasket is. It will be running extremely lean due to sucking in all the extra air, and need to be rebuilt. Im guessing the screws are loose/missing that screw up into the bottom of the carb to hold the upper half on, but as I dont have a work space to pull it apart, I am looking for a workshop in Wellington that is good with rebuilding carburetor's.

Any advice on good places to take it is greatly appreciated.

Cheers :)
