Runx Z value..

Postby RS13 » Sat Jul 20, 2019 10:35 pm

Hi guys,

Looking at buying a Runx Z off family. It's a 2001 with 135kms, 6spd manual with 2zzge, disc brakes etc. Both bumpers are a little rough, front guard has a dent, but otherwise pretty good for an "old" car. Bog standard. Don't seem to be many manual ones for sale, what would be a fair price to offer with all things considered? People keep mentioning the collectability of these cars but I'm skeptical, it's a quick little car but worth buying?

Cheers

What are you thinking?

Pretty hard to say as there are so many dreamers on Trademe looking at the pricing some are at. The only thing they have going for them is the gearbag I guess. If I was spending 5k on a car i'd go for a blade. So to me, i'd value them below that mark. Just an appliance sort of car in my view, so I don't see the value. I see some on tardme for like 8k, seems a bit of a joke. But I don't keep an eye on pricing.

I really don't know. Any RunX or Allex seems to bottom out around $4k for a half decent one by the looks, I figured a manual high powered one would be roughly equivalent to an older GT Corolla and perhaps worth more than a gutless auto one? I tentatively offered them $5k depending on a thorough going over which they're happy with.

People don't really lust after them, even in manual, as it's (in my humble) a shape that hasn't aged particularly well. As much as I like those Corolla's as a vehicle, they're pretty frumpy.

I'd guess $3-$4k ish, as body repairs are fricken expensive.

Yeah, they tried to trade it in, the caryard estimated around $3k-$4k as a trade in and told them to try sell it privately. They've already replaced it with a Skoda Kodiaq RS (yikes!). I've had some eye-watering quotes for panel and paint.. plus the clutch is a little soft (has done 135kms on standard clutch, not bad I thought), I'm hard on clutches so looking at a few hundy for a good HD. Plus all service items required I'd be spending north of $7k on a car I could maybe sell for $6k, really not that interested tbh when you can still pick up an early GC8 for that sort of money and at least have more fun whilst throwing all your money at it.

Food for thought anyway.

I'd agree with Leon, they aren't super popular at all. Let's be honest, its just the 20v of the early 2k era  4k would be max if its a little rough.
