Toyspeed Trackday #2 - Summer Edition

Postby Looonie » Tue Oct 29, 2002 2:34 am

Well people, the Toyspeed Organisation Committee (ie. those of us who have nothing better to do all day :) ) have once again banged their heads together and decided that after the success of the previous track day, and the repeated demands for a repeat, that it would be a brilliant idea to make this a bi-annual event, with a summer and winter event. This should allow for a greater variety of events to be organised, season-specific.

So, the plan is to kick off the year with a fantastic grasskhana organised by the wonderful Hamiltonians, then around the middle of february, ,while the lambs are still hopping, the daisies are still growing (or attempting to re-grow after we rark them all up...) we may once again descent upon the peaceful settlement of Taupo for another 3 days of mayhem, debauchery and other norty stuff :P

What we need from you delightful people is first of all a vote on the poll as to which day you would prefer the actual Track event to take place, more details on this soon. Secondly if you could please post a message to confirm your definite interest in this event, ideally including an email address and name so we can add you to the database :)

Now... the two options, as shown above, are...

a) To have the Track event on a Friday. This should enable us to hire the track for a reduced fee, meaning more savings for you. However obviously this will entail people taking the day off work, and probably driving down on the thursday night... Vote this option if you have a nice boss, and small wallet :)

b) To book the Track for the Saturday. This enables us to convoy from our various locations on the friday night, safely work a 5 day week and stay on our bosses good side, but will undoubtedly cost more, the approximate cost is twice as much per head.

Obviously if you work a saturday or a sunday, ,well you're just plain rooted :)

But anyways, if you could all kindly help us out with your votes, any suggestions or points please email me directly rather than stating here, would be ideal to keep this as a voting and confirmation only thread. Cheers.

I can be emailed to sidewayz@boost.org.nz
Or if you wish to buzz me on ICQ - 110640252

I'm keen for either day, but my wallet is tiny, so friday is more my show. I'm keen as hell to test out my car too!!!
Just don't make it too late in Feb... I wanna send my car for painting before I head back to uni in march and will need to make sure i've fixed any broken bits! Tee hee.... oops...

Track Day? Rock on!

Postby Gadget » Wed Oct 30, 2002 3:27 pm

I'm in either day, Friday sounds like the day, as I'd rather spend money on my car than on a track! :D

Won't there be another meet Waitangi weekend? :?:

Waitangi Day

Postby Looonie » Wed Oct 30, 2002 5:46 pm

Sorry guys, Waitangi day is being observed on a Thursday this year... So unless we all take the friday off work anyway, it really won't help much.

Although if we do organise it for that weekend it will make travelling a lot easier for most people as they will have the whole day to move, not just the night...

But yes, as long as enough people are keen to get the friday off, we can organise it for a friday and plan a nice long weekend around that...

i'll definately be there! No matter what day it is but i would prefer saturday. Saves taking friday off cos if i think about it it will actually cost more to take off friday, don't think lower track prices would cover the cost of a friday off. :(

Track Day

Postby Looonie » Sat Nov 02, 2002 11:35 am

Alright people, Kinloud has advised me most weekends are booked, and checking the schedule the 7th of february is free, this I believe would be a good date for our event as we can then make a 4 day weekend out of it as it falls directly after waitangi day...

If there are any major objections to this date being used, please voice them asap otherwise we shall go ahead and book this date and begin organisation of the event :)

Loonie has suggested a very good compromise for the next Toyspeed trackday. 7th Feb 2003 sounds good.

OK -
In anticipation of everyone being happy with this date I have emailed the track manager today to book the 7th of Feb 2003. He should be able to confirm the booking during this coming week.
If we don't want this date we will have to let him know within a couple of weeks.
