I would tend to agree with this since Shell and BP announced how many billion dollar profits......
But then you have to think that they sell oil and other products which would increase their profits...

I bet theres not a supermarket franchise anywhere in the world that would post end of year profits that would touch the sides of their profits

41.6% of the pump price is tax and duties, comprising gst (12.5%), acc levies (about 5-6cpl), with the balance going to the Government's consolidated fund. Despite considerable public pain over increasing prices, the Government has made no moves to reduce its tax take (in fact, as gst is a percentage, increased prices yield increased gst tax paid).
