Shred Motorsport shutting down.

Postby Adoom » Wed Feb 12, 2014 4:06 pm

I heard that Shred is closing shop due to some trouble with the ird. :(
It's a shame, because I much prefer dealing with them than STM. But what choice do we have now.....

Bit of horror story with a unnamed GTR owner aswell they got cleaned up in court with regards to that also.

All star cast the GTR owner bought in as witnesses to help sink Shred namely one Steve Murch as a witness for the prosecution.

The guys who look after my car also wrote there own report and got 2 independent engineer's reports to that basically described there work and practice's as shoddy at best.

I did hear that was previous managment that did the GTR, but the company still brunted the cost. I do follow some of thier work on fb, not sure if its driver or build error on some.

I guess it's a shame with people losing their jobs and shit but I've had a couple of GOOD mates have issues through shred due to a few things so doesn't bother me. Not starting shit but ah well.

Who wants to buy a dyno??? :D

Previous management?

It's always been the same people running it. But the company called Shred Industries was shut down and a new company created called Shred Motorsports.

I think it's fair to say that STM and Shred aren't really competitors, they operate in different parts of the "scene"

From what I heard shred weren't paying the text man for near on 4 years. Each day I drive past there it's full of skylines and skid cars pretty much where as Speedtech is full of evos, wrxs, Holden's, and fords. They have a lot of race cars plus a lot of re flashes on the Holden's/fords etc.

Nah it was definitely build error.

I've spoken to the guy and the dude that did the engineers reports and basically Shred did a blind monkey's job on this engine & gearbox builds and was basically proven so in court.

Basically the owner got about $15-20 K in costs but had to wait awhile as I think the whole process took about 6-8 months but the GTR owner finally got his.

Oh well, hopefully somebody buys the plant and opens up some other options to people in Wellington.

Competition is always good, but the quality/knowledge needs to be in place first, otherwise things like this happen.

Good Luck with that those guys gave this GTR owner the royal run around and to be honest he just dug his heels in and went through the process.

I pretty much think Shred were hoping this guy would go away but he didn't they lost out and had to pay up.

Basically from what I gather they are still trading but under another Shred alias LTD 2014 or under some similar guise.

You get what you pay for really. Expertise such as stm, D tech and Wrc developments is hard to come by and if you want the results you have to employ their expertise. If you want an average job and results you go to the
other guys around the country..

Sucks to hear they owe you some money Barry that's never easy on a business have debtors which are never going to pay..

The building, hoists and dyno are all owned by a family trust, so the equipment will still be available. From what ive heard the dyno will be available for hire and Geoff will still be wiring, but I think he will be working for somebody this time.

Yeah I was glad to hear that stuff is all protected - Geoff is a good guy and while he is being philosophical about it all, it seems like a bit of a nightmare situation and I wish him well for the future.
