Why do car makers do things to annoy mechanics!!!

Fiat make good cars, they make Punto HGT, punto GT, both of which are hot hatchbacks. I think maybe not many in new zealand, only work on few fiats. Mainly cheap used Japanese cars which should have been thrown away long time ago.

Mitsubishi elentra with v6, rear head gasket leaking oil into exhaust, guy bring in and say "making funny smell. fix" so I look and find out whats wrong, get quote of $490.00nz dollar to fix, he said "no i will wait", i think this common kiwi attitude to car repair yes? Maybe bigger issue later, now i can fix and repair so no more smell of burning oil. But instead of spend money he risk safety as car maybe only worth $1500.
