And forklifts

What about those LPG police cars which you can always tell an undercover cop by the big diamond on the front? :?

lpg is a great fuel,

it is also a biproduct of refining petrol -- read waste product.

running straight gas with the correct set up can be a really good way to go especially with forced induction with the cooling effect of the lpg.

over in aus there is a company call "gas research australia" who manufacture performance setups for dedicated gas systems.

one guy I know took the black head from a commodore, ported it, added gas research manifolds, ran straight gas,
on a 202 engine from a kingswood, he added a celica 5 speed gear box and was doing 157 kilowatts at the rears in a kingswood!

there are plenty of guys who run straight gas in turbo charged cars too.

If i could find someone to do a gas conversion for my caldina i would jump at it. cheaper fuel _and_ performance gains.

FYI, there is a dude here in Wellywood who was a huge advocate of LPG, and ran dedicated LPG in his Rover for about ten years (running a heavily modified V8 ). He ran afoul of MotorSport NZ regs, as you can't run LPG in motorsport events (heavier than air, does not disperse. as best I recall).

So he converted the car back to run on petrol. Apparently the car has never run better than it now runs on pump petrol. Haven't heard that directly from the owner, but it is a quote attributed to him. His car was n/a not turbo, so your results might vary.

na afaik doesnt respond to lpg as well as forced induction.

in a car like the GTT the increased Octane would be very benefitial (as the GTT is prone to detonation)
and the combination of the cooling effect of the lpg and higher octane work well towards preventing detonation.

kind of a poor mans NOS (cooling effect... no extra oxygen)

however as with everything it _must_ be done _right_

na applications are also disadvantaged as for gas the system must be fully sealed (i think thats the issue) whereas with turbos the system already is.
