It has to be the only mint, origional (Bar holden hubcaps), unbent, unthrashed Datsun 1600 in all existance!

Sooo much cooler then a ke30...

Might go down and check that out. Always worth it on the off chance it doesn't sell for a lot.

That's the plan, the way I see it, it's at an ideal time to score a good deal too, being Lot 1 at 6pm.

At the very least I'm interested in what it's going to sell for, going to check it out today.

I'd say that Alistair Hoffman wants to buy it and then I would have said enough.

And if Mr Hoffman was to encounter some difficulty arriving to the auction at the specified time, that would be a tad unfortunate wouldnt it

haha well he does live 2 houses down from me.... So I don't mind if we have this car added to the neighbourhood :P

Anyway back on topic, I wouldn't buy the ke30 peronally as I have a thing for 2 doors and think that '30's usually look boring (except for Jebus' one and Rosie from ImportX). Or a Ke20 cause they are a more interesting car, they have a better shape and nicer lights and grille.

yeh but come on.. compared to a curren.. did i mention style of a gumboot?

and what about my ke30.. certainly would have smoked jebus' ke30 and i think it was a very tidy examble. and i hear the dude has got the 3t/2t hyrbid all up and running, and just doing the run in thing. should be up for some decent HP.

oldskool cars definately look alot better, but they are almost certianly an aquired taste. i mean, a curren is going to have a certain amount of, well luxury over a ke30. the ke30 will always ride alot harder, leaf sprung rear end and all.

yea. but the look and the style of a ke or any oldschool car is far better then that of new school. i just love the feel and respect you get when in any older car. and you can do anything to them

Hmms Ke30's are common place over here in oz - still plenty of them about

if its a 2 door , coupe , then cool .. 4 door , then common place ..

They respond well though , to a proper Suspension setup , none of this cut springs crap , ( if you stick with the K series engine ) a warm cam , electronic ignition , a carb along the lines of a weber ( i believe you can get the manifold to suit Dcoe sidedraft 45's here in oz ) and a decent exhaust .. They are also a sweet candidate for 4age transplants , or even a 3tgte if you want to go another route

For " oldschool " they are pretty good , and reliable lil fangers, but they are still a 70's mums spare taxi car if stock

Personally - you guys need more oldschool ( pre 77 ) celicas over there .. Now they REALLY respond well to the trick bits and look eleventy billion times cooler

Went for $4900 in the end to a backwards cap + hoodie young fella. Lets hope we don't see it being thrashed round Palmy sitting on 17's with stuff all suspension. :(

OT a little but is chopped springs a major problem in New zealand - or am i just reading things wrong?

Im sure if theses " hoodies " came on here , sat down , and listened to good advice , they would have much much better handling and ride - and safer too

It wouldn't be a problem if it wasn't done dangerously by amateurs, who then think that because their car is "low" and their suspension is "hard" that they have a rally car equivalent. Unfortunately, even explaining the difference to many of them doesn't change anything ... they'll just go for the cheap option

PS: Its illegal, and insurance companies won't cover you with cut springs.

[edit] I think I might have misread your query ... in which case - yes, chopped springs is quite a big problem. Far too many people driving around on chopped springs who just don't understand how much it affects their car's handling and braking.[/edit]

Yup, lots of young idiots who want to do things on the cheap. Alot of them wont listen to good advice, so it doesnt work.

yeh the problem there lies with actually getting them to listen, and then take the information in. half of them are thicker than pig shit and if cool means risking their/others safety, they wouldnt hesitate to jump at the chance.
