Keep note of the word waikato.....

At 11.00am today, the Waikato District Council announced the granting of Resource Consent for the building of the Hampton Downs Motorsport Park, situated two kilometres south of Meremere in the North Waikato.

January 18, 2007 - The appeal period for the land use resource consents has now passed and no appeals have been received by Waikato District Council or Environment Waikato.

Yer, my mate James works as a site surveyor for REID construction, looks like it'll be mean, apparently a world class track.

Was speaking with one of the brains behind the circuit at a meeting last night, apparently the circuit was approx 2 1/2 weeks ahead of schedule before the rains last week and they will shortly be taking bookings for 1/1/2009 onwards (he also gave me an indication of prices for hiring the circuit in different configurations, but I'll leave it for them to announce). It also sounds like they have very solid bookings for having driver training courses etc using the track during the week days so everything is looking good for them at this stage.
We know that four-wheel drive doesn't work in a racing car, and I proved to myself that it doesn't work very well for rallycross. I'm absolutely convinced that it has no future in rallying, either, even if the regulations allowed it. - Roger Clark (rallying legend), circa 1976

Resource consent took about that long, and they were publicising the apartments etc. for a while. I've been hearing news on this track every now and then for all that time, you just gotta know where to listen :)

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

Are they building two or three configurations?
I thought I heard it was three configurations... that was quite a long time ago though...
