I give up. Seriously, some of you people are as bad as the $&#$% that belive a cop can't ticket you if he's not wearing his hat.

Put it this way. Perhaps palmy is somehow different, BUT PALMERSTON NORTH TRAFFIC POLCE DO NOT HAVE A $&#$% TICKET QUOTA.

I don't care what else you say, its not correct.

Just rung a highway cop for central area. They recently have one ticket (he thinks it says ticket, not contact) a hour quota.

And just rung a stratgic traffic cop in palmy, and they have one CONTACT. So what I said stands, palmy cops have no quota at all in terms of tickets, but highway guys might (as I said, hes not sure from memory, he was at home, if its ticket or contact)

lol, it wasnt online, just munters in general i've met. I think it comes from them believing a cop must be wearing full uniform or something.

And further to above, normal cops in palmy are the same as the traffic guys, no ticket quota

All the driving round I doin a day during work I would'nt have a problem giving 4+ tickets an hour. Never had a bad driving car related experience with cops myself & people I know who have deserved it...

Yeah, I know of a morning (I was there) where a traffic cop in palmy sat on a 50km street near a school at 8-9am in a unmarked car. She let every car go that was doing 64 and under go, and got 17 tickets in about a hour, all for people going 65 and over. Including one guy at 102.

If you drive 100% to the letter of the law, you will never get picked on by police. You act out, and you will get punished. Sure there are bad cops, but there are bad people in every job. 99% of the people that complain though are breaking the law, it doesnt matter if you agree with the law or not, its the law.

Simple fact is if you

If I were a cop I'd probably get some kind of record for pink stickering cars  The amount of shitboxes I see out and about astounds me.
I have a bit of respect for cops, its a shit job with not very good money and next to no gratitude.

They can pull over 100 people in a day, give no tickets at all, and the boss will be happy.

doubt that very very much!

nelson top cop was in the paper a few years back and talked about the QUOTA they work too. funnily enough as soon as all the national fuss appeared in the media that changed

Sucks how you need to prove your innocent after they've assumed your guilty. Unfortunatly thats how the police work in NZ with a lot of new road rules (excesive acceleration, etc)

ive had my trueno's exhaust certified after i got a green sticker one night...

its $200 for the test, pass or fail, no free re-check.

they put a little metal sticker on the end of your exhaust, and some paperwork that details exactly what you exhaust is, ie pipe diameters, muffler types and sizes.

mine tested on the side of the road at 104d (at midnight in a residential area outside some poor bastards house :? ), tested at pitstop prior to any work at 97, and after fitting two more resonators at 90.

when i dropped the car off for the cert he needed it all day, because of all the measuring and stuff to do. and his $11000 tester measured my car at 89.1.

all up including ticket, muffler and cert the whole experience cost me $540 and no car for a day.

Im not a cop slammer, and i didnt give him any attitude as i thought he may have just been doing a random stop, you know, check the springs etc. Its just frustrating to get pulled over and ticketed without breaking any laws in the process. And how loud is a car travlling at 60km/h in 4th gear??

ill do some research about getting it tested neway, to prevent this happening in future i think, will probly cost less.

Depends on the car, mine is damn loud at 60 in 4th... probably bordering on illegal, but if I drop it back a cog, it is a higher pitch, and sounds much less noisey both inside and out.

Not sure on the actual readings at 60, but when I had it tested, it was 93dB, and that was on vacuum, as in after foot was taken off the gas. Still working on making it a bit quieter, I don't like to annoy people too much.

If you are in Auckland I'd like to suggest you pop over to Woolf Mufflers and get your dB reading done there. I went to them for my Mirage for a smilar reason and that was accepted. All these suggestions are fine and well but you need to get are facts and proof when dealing with this sort of thing. Its hard working owning a car a little 'different' from factory ay. Good luck :)

It's funny really, there's such a big discrepency between what gets a warrant and what's breaking the law. My car had a warrant before I bought it and when I took it to get the exhaust fixed after I got a ticket I was told by the inspector at my local garage it would pass a warrant no problem. It'd be nice if there was some proper objective testing, rather than a tester saying yup it's ok then having a cop say it isn't (neither tested it with a dB meter). Mind you, it only cost a few dollars to fix anyway and I don't really feel the need for loud cars anyway.
