I go with Barry. Keep it as it is and kick rotory na's into a class of their own.

Really don't like the bracket racing idea.

Well all of these kick arse rotaries will be in the NA Top 16 to duel with eash other the likes of Deanis and his mate Andrew, who has run a 12.4 in his N/A Civic. They'll all still have to be no faster than 10.99, or they'd break out and have to go Pro Street.

All the other cars that don't get top 16 spots can do bracket racing. Bazz, you'll get in the Top 16 FWD Turbo class easily, so you wouldn't have to bracket race anyway. Anyways, you're already at the point of needing to go to Prostreet as it is 8) So, really anyone that's competitive enough will get into the top 16 class, so who cares whether there is backet racing or not.

I like the suggested way as Deanis has said, but am still undecided about the Lexus V8 being allowed or not. It is a V8 sure, but it is still a Toyota motor, so still an import (provided in an import car). It's not exactly as easy as bolting it straight up to a light weight corolla body an going either, as it takes planning things out like most engine swaps do (read: MONEY)
If it was that easy, why hasn't there been this big influx of people doing it to dominate the N/A class. Just cause one guy looks outside the square and follows the rules as it stands at the moment, why penalise him? (Remembers back to old Bathurst days with the GTR's domination and then banning.)

With Imports there is so much more variety compared to a V8 meet, it is so difficult to cater to all poeple's needs and to be truely fair and equal. It must make it a nightmare to try and accomodate for all forms of vehicle which falls into the broad "Import" bracket.

One thing I would have liked to see come to the Nationals in particular, is that the drivers must have attended a number of drags events that year. Eg, two or so meets at their local track or a couple of rounds of the Night Speed or Winter Wars series. I'm sick of seeing people that don't know how to stage, that they're not supposed to remove their bonnets when racing, that they need their window wound up, not do burnouts on street tyres passed the staging lights.... and the list goes on. It's the Nationals for god sake. It's supposed to be the best in the country. Not so some poser that thinks, I'll give it a go. They do a huge burnout on street tyres, launches on the limiter and axle tramps passed the 60 foot marks and lunches the internals of the motor/gearbox over the track, causing a delay due to oil down and ruining a nicely prepped track for the Pro Import guys to go fast on.
I understand logistically it would be too hard to enforce this, but really come on!

That's my major bitch about Nationals. Go to Winter Wars and have go first!
