I think if you have a loud exhaust and don't drive like a dick you should be safe.

I don't think cops go out trying to find people with loud exhausts, the drivers generally draw attention to themselves by speeding etc.

I wouldn't say mine is quiet but I'm yet to even my exhaust questioned. I have never been pulled over full stop.

If one day I have to get my exhaust tested and redone to meet requirements I will do so :)

Thats always been the way, and always will be, as said, dont drive it like a twat and you wont get pulled up.
I got pulled up once a while back, a couple of minutes chatting to the cop and I was on my way.
Passed all the 'boyracer' stings without a hitch, Attitude plays a huge part in it too, If Im wearing a cap, Il remove it before the cop makes it to the car.

Apparently a lot of things.......

If it's been certed and you have the appropriate docs and the cop still doesn't pay any attention (You've probably failed the attitude test), then it may cost you a warrant recheck to prove the point which won't cost the earth.

You know what though, I think if the cops were more like the american ones then the boyracer problem wouldn't be such a problem, give them lip and they give you a hiding.... Check this out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-JGAEeh-Hl0

thats a classic had it on my comp years ago

everyone should watch cops on CI channel every night at 7pm, great for a laugh  one wrong move and they'll $&#$% you up bigtime.

it used to be if you gave them lip theyd bundle you in the wagon, beat the snot out of you leave you on the docks to find your own way home. i'm all for bringing that back, but the world is to PC nowadays.

I got pulled up for no reason!! cop was going about 55km/h n a 60km/h so i went past hm at 60 on the dot (which now i think about it was a stupid mistake to make :( ) was pulled up and given a ticket for $150.

My point with the certs was that it dusnt/cant hapen to anything else, if a cop thinks your engine hasnt been certd properly or whatever does he send you bak? No0o0o0o
In my way of thinking if you go out of your way to make your car comply with the new laws being brought in why are you still able to be punished for it??
I thought that 'boyracers' had lack of reguard for anyone else apart from themselves, break rules they dont like, and generally go out of the way to make it hard, yet! compling with rules and regualtions gets you know where...

I once prided myself on never have been pulled over to Haydo, sang that song abit to loud and got stamped with $180 in fines in 2 days....

Arggghhhh the joys of being a "boyracer" car enthusiust ae?? beginning to be more trouble than its worth.. Next car, no exhaust mods i dont think, or they will be very very minor....

and yes, i am a whingy bitch right now :)

So the official reason for the ticket was "no reason"?

Is this the ticket you got a while back or have you got another one champ?

Personally I avoid cops. I would of just of not passed him/her in the other lane so I don't attract attention to myself just incase the cop thought my exhaust was a bit too loud.

I actually carry around my plug in silencer around with me just incase. I would nicely explain I just bought the silencer was on my way home to plug it in. The story might not work but meh.

A few years ago I loved my exhaust but now it's just it could cost me money with fines.

Now that i'm older and wiser I have much more respect and appreciation for more standard cars nowadays
