that to me tells you how bad the supra enonomy is, nothing good about caldina fuel usage either

get a jza70, hamilton to taupo, full days racing, and drive back on a full tank plus $20 just to make sure got home! and no, wasn't taking it easy on the way there or back, they love the cold early morning weather...

1g's aren't that bad, just the weight of the car adds to the problem. if it's auto, makes it worse again.

but then like people have said, you don't buy a supra for the economy.

For those who feather the throttle on acceleration, actually this does not save fuel. What you need to do is accelerate at the most efficient way, usually is about 75% throttle, to the cruising speed.
Best way to save fuel is to plan and reduce how much braking you do.
Braking wastes fuel, not acceleration.
So accelerate fast (but smartly, no point of racing to the next set of lights and stopping for red), brake slow.
With boosted car, staying off the boost is just waste, you could drive more economically by using the turbine (moderately).

BTW you can hear turbo when it is in the most efficient part of the map. It produces a specific high pitch noise, that is different to normal hiss/whistle (also not to be confused to old turbo whine, it is at a lot higher frequency, those who go to clubs might not hear).

Also pump up the tires to 2.5-2.75 bar, that makes huge difference.

Saying that, best I got out of GT4 (ST205) was 8L/100km on relatively flat plateau. I really cannot refuse the joys of the hairpins and windy roads to achieve anything reasonable on that (best I got without trying to save fuel was 10L/100km). In city I get 11-13L/100km. My running average is 12L/100km.
I would assume GTT would be pretty similar, although it is little bit heavier I think.
1GGTE in supra would also be similar. Although factory 1GGTE has lesser maximum fuel consumption (smaller injectors, lower boost, less power).

my 1g starlet managed an average of around 11.5-12 litres/100km..

The interesting thing about that was that was over the course of a days racing at pukekohe, running 1:12-1:14's. it is pretty light and has had a bit of tuning done. running 16psi on the track as 20 psi = not too much grip.
as someone said above weight and transmission pay a part in economy, but mostly it's the person behind the wheel...

My 1GG manual does 10ks a litre consistantly around town with about 50/50 economy to thrash ratio. Obviously its missing 2 turbos though so id imagine around town you would be looking under 10ks a litre but perhaps around 10 or abit higher on the open road.
