Well I live out that way - and it's not potholes that concern me - just the 20km's of gravel I have to travel on each way....

like the road to a camp site I stayed at last week - was a proper road - about 200meters of it was metal - then the rest, possibly about 1km was just dirt and then mud as it rained

two and a half men is funny

well it was....

plus americans are fat. and drive big cars (because they're fat) so their roads get chewed up faster anyway.....

Two and a half men can be fkn funny mind you!

I don't think wheel quality makes much difference when the pot holes just down the road from me are 100-200 deep and probably 500 across. If you have wheels that could survive that at 100 clicks i'll buy a set!

Here every time it rains we end up with big ass potholes all over the place. They then get a cheap easy fill in to 'fix' the problem. Ready for the next time it rains

No I am just fed up with not being able to go for a drive without at least once thinking "ah ffs." as I bounce along on shitty nz roads regardless of if I'm in the supra or the hiace

as do I
I have never ever had a piece of road in nz try and kill me.
Just because you once hit a pothole means nothing, of course there will be potholes in various places due to a number of reasons.
If they built nice wide open straight roads everywhere the road toll would go UP.
How many of the worst blackspots are in fairly easy nice roads? quite a bloody few!

If you have an issue with nz roads, learn to drive please
Dumbass drivers kill ppl, not roads.

i'm with sergie as well, i've done alot of kms lately, in the hiace, and befroe that in my levin with coilovers etc,

nz roads are fine, went to taupo on sunday, went two ways, both were fine at 100-120 whether it was pissing down with rain or fine, dangerous spots and roadworks were marked, as long as you drive sensibly it's sweet.

with pot holes, even if they are 500mm wide, if you can't swerve to miss that, your either a crap driver or going faster than say 140, or your car handles like crap.

i've driven as far down as christchurch, and as north as bay or islands, the roads are fine.

Yup our reg was $207 last year and $247 this year.

The thing that annoys me is that they keep focussing on bringing the road toll down, despite the NZ population increasing. Saying crap like "In 2047 when there are 6 million people here, we want the death toll halved!" or "This year the death toll has hit a new record" Really?, well so has the population dipshit. The numbers of deaths per 100,000 people is lower than ever from memory, so come on, give us a break government!

On the one hand they waste our taxes on all the BS ads with landmines and stabilty control and all the other kill joy technology, and on the other they keep introducing stupid frontal impact, emissions etc rules which are shown to make NZ's car fleet increase in age (less of that fancy technology etc) This is counter productive.

End rant

Population increases so there's more cars on the road, and by effect crashes but cars get "safer" so deaths should be less. Dunno which side wins in the real world.

Spoken like a true expert. I've driven in Auckland once, so I guess I can make massive assumptions about Auckland roads as a whole too

Guess i'm just a crap driver though, my bad. 10 Years of driving and probably 400k easy under my belt with 1 accident. Yet i'm still a crap driver as I can't avoid every pot hole on the road (I didn't hit it BTW, was just pointing out they do exist.)

We seriously need a face palm icon on here.
