The reason I wasn't a fan while the idea was decent country against country really I thought the drivers were fairly average outside of Nico Hulkenburg who is close to a F-1 seat the rest for the most part were pretty average in my eyes.

I mean and some of the countries involved Lebanon and alike have very limited racing backrounds and were just there to make up the numbers.

How long did this circus last 3-4 years and now they can't pay there bills.NEXT...
Even so. No season was the same as the last. The leader changed each season, which is kinda interesting. And there were a few surprising results during the time it was up (Malaysia winning a round! Who would've though that!)
It was a good concept, and had plenty of promise. Pity to see it go.

The aim of A1 was country against country and close racing
It was not about how fast can we spend

Hence why you can't use examples from F1 to explain the dmise of A1

You missed the bit where I said, and in big $&#$% letters, so you don't miss it again:

If you look at your post every alternate sentance starts - with F1 or with A1 Your main points here all start with a refernce to F1 - if thats not comparing i don't know what comparing is I can also write in really small letters

For me at the end of the day A1 was just a poor mans F1 as Colin Giltrap said I can't afford to own a F1 team so A1 was for him.

Ok then, well lets ask, how can you NOT compare it to F1 then? Because its a nation based race with no budget etc etc blah blah blah?
Maybe someone is trying to pick out the fly shit from the pepper hmmm? ;)

Are they open wheelers in the similar style of F1? Yes. Thats ALL you need to compare it to F1. People were going to compare it to F1 from day one just because of that. Doesn't matter if it was mean't to be compared to F1 or not. It just was :P
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

at the end of the day both F1/A1 are (were) competing for the same audience.
it was a good concept but really pushing shit uphill as all parties would have had to invest truckloads to draw in the BIG crowds and get the exposure to get a return

i am sorry to see it go - it was as close to seeing REAL motorsport as i've ever experienced without having to leave the country

That makes far more sense, it could have more easily been compared to some of the single make series out there as that was essentially what it was but rather than having many private teams they based it one team from each nation, imho a very good stepping stone for those emerging drivers who may have otherwise not got noticed on the european circuit so much, not so much a series for those guys in the f1 feeder circuits already which is sort of what it turned into but not what i believe the original concept was trying to promote.
Anyhow was good racing, bit sad to see it go tits up really
