My dumbarse moment

When I was 17 I got my first fastish car, was a gt legacy, 200odd hp, I was driving down the caversham motorway just after the old mobil station, was just going under the first overbridge heading towards andy bay and was doing about 140ish, a car went past the other way and my mate says "shit that was a cop" I call BS but sure enough I see the red and blue lights come on behind me as the cop does a U turn, I looked at my mate and asked him if he minded if I gun it, and he says, "dude you already lost ur liecence, might as well make the cop work for it". so I gunned it and was bouncing off the 180k speed limiter, went flying onto andybay road and on the other side a bunch of boyracers are waiting to come onto the motorway so all the see is a old hack leggacy going sideways onto andybay with a cop some ways back, I pull into the side street with simms breaks and parked behind a big truck and trailer, told my turbo time to STFU and bailed nd ran about 100m and then walked normally past all the car yards to Mcdonals... the cop drove past REAL slow about 1 min later and I swear he must have been able to hear by heart beating...... I waiting for about an hour at maccas and then walked back to my car fully expecting to open the door and hear "freeze ur surrounded". but I turned it on, nothing happened so I drove home.....

HAHAHAHA  Nearly got away with it  ^^

About 5 years ago I managed to lose the ass end of my Levin up on the some hills on some grit, then the front, then ass then hit a barrier and got pulled back onto the road by a skyline, changed wheel and drove home with all sorts hanging off the front. Probably a few members out there that will remember that due to the fact we were having a cruise (NOT a toyspeed cruise however!) so thankfully within 1 minute there was an army of people helping change the wheel / get it towed off the edge... but yeah not a proudest moment of mine. I stay well away from icy roads and Federal tyres nowadays.

How no cops managed to come along during the wheel change i'll never know :?

But yeah, they key is to learn from your mistakes 8)

Coming back form the Nissan Mobil 500, in my mazda 323 1.5 (little rocket lol).. heading to my mates farm just out of fielding, get to his road, gravel, yay time for rally driving! decide he's going to call the road etc, go over a crest and he goes all quiet, wonder wtf is up then realise 90 left coming up very quick! S*** turn the car in and hit the bank side on. we all look at each other and laugh as car still going and no damage, sweet! get to his house, 1km up the road, park as close to the shed so his old man doesn't see anything in the morning (dirt and grass stuck in wheels and window's! get up in the morning, and his old man ask if we had any trouble on the way home, turns out he had gone up the road and saw the skid marks on the road, and the marks in the bank. then we all go and inspect the evidence on the car!

that was one of my mistakes that didnt up costing me any money....

Running late to work one morning going over top of broklyn hill from the heading into town in my old hr30 skyline, 1st bit of rain in about 2 weeks and a little bit fast probabl round about 70, cut the corner as the road starts on the down hit the white line and everything just wnet light on me, ended up doing a really slow 540 over a distance of about 80 meters and stopped on opposite side of road facing back up the hill, luckily was 4 in the morning and no other traffic on the road at the time. Was 19 at the time.
Oh and ages and ages ago when b1 and i first got our licences we quite often used to use each others car for braking purposes, you could pick a car up for about $500 then, and a tank of gas only cost $30 from empty.
Haven't done anything silly lately on public roads, closed roads in my race car quite a few tho but i'm not sharing

oooh, You just reminded me of the time when we were driving in the industrial area of town and I'm not sure weather it was you or Dan were coming the other way, did a U-turn and tried to catch up to me?

So I turned off my headlights in the industrial area with no streetlights and ran straight over a kerb at 60km'h and popped a tyre

Must have been Dan, i did wonder why he one day decided that he would wire up his driving/spot lights to a hidden switch so he could turn them on without any other lights on

I've done lots of incredibly stupid things but I'm still alive, unlike some of my ex mates.
Males and stupid things can usually be put down to "thinking with the wrong head"
One night we had a few drinks after work. Wasn't intending to stay long as I was supposed to go to the pub to meet some ho.
So after consuming too much, jumped into the car (POS Austin 1800) to go into town, got radar'd speeding & pulled up by Petone railway station.
Cop says "where are you going"
To the pub to meet a chick.
Where have you been ?
On the piss at work.
Needless to say I don't drink and drive anymore.
BTW that was back in about 1982.

Prior to that I'd had a few near misses, one night I'd been at a nightclub (slack alice's), came up Boulcott st onto the Boulcott St on ramp & nailed it. it was about 2AM and not a car in sight. Back in the day it was the only part of the motorway that was 5 lanes wide and no median barrier, the barrier started at the next bridge. All I can remember was the feeling that I was going round in circles and came to a stop on the wrong side facing the wrong way but stopped without hitting anything. Blame it on a wet road , too much power. tyres not good enough and needing a proper wheel alignment.
In the late 70s was pasenger in a Hillman Imp (with a blown headgasket) going uphill in Normandale road. My mate was driving, he was pretty pissed. we didn't make it around a corner at full throttle and came to rest around a power pole which stopped us from going down the bank. I had my seatbelt on but only loosely. I managed to break the windscreen with my head, coppers and ambo turned up. Me, off to hospital, my mate off to the cop shop.

What shocking drivers. Good thing i'm here to talk about a mate *cough* who did something stupid when he was 16 and had his first car.

A wet summers afternoon he decided to show off to another mate in the car how awesome his D1 skills were in his D1GP spec EX lancer (read= stock 1.3L 4speed ex lancer complete with 14" steel rims and sweet bald 185's on the back). Came up to an intersection went down to 2nd and "flicked" the car into the corner. Backend of the car lead the front around the corner and it ended up mounting a kerb and sliding along. Needless to say he was very lucky no-one called the police or the police drove past etc.

1. Fell asleep at the wheel, sideswiped a Jeep's bull bars. Jeep 1, me 0.
2. Speeding on gravel road, ended up in ditch. A very deep ditch..
3. Skids in Muriwai 4wd carpark, into a large boulder.
All the above in my first car, a Corona. Swapped it for a fridge in the end.

4. Overheated the 4g62. Taught me to check oil regularly. Poor Hyundai

5. Understeered into a curb up Domain windy road in the rain. Bent control arm and rooted rim. Poor GTZ

6. Blew auto trans - $2300
7. Oversteered into a fence - $1800
8. Blew auto trans again - Manual conversion $1900, kicked myself
9. 20km corner. Missed the sign and hit at 80km. Understeered into bank, rooted my License plate and a bit of bumper damage.

Above in current car.

Thats only off the top of my head. Not even starting on police experiences. Still having them.

drove my brothers bluebird to tows when i was late for school, and it was raining, skinny tyers, fwd and crap suspention, oh and more power then my corolla witch sticks to the road like a relly sticky thing

too fast round a downhil corner and cut it a bit too far and hit the dirt, ended up over steering (witch took me a moment to realise what was happening) corected and it flicked back the other way and was not salvageable so slamed on the breals and spun it across the road into the drain/bank.
came to rest about HERE facing bacxk uphi, luckily i drove out without any help and only put a small dent in the boot that you dont notice, and put mud all up the side

also spun the ue taking a corrner a bit too fast on gravvle that i was trying to find my limit on, had a full turn of the sterring wheel worth of over steer the day befour lol..
it swung out over corected looked where i was going and saw a sraner post, so i burryed my foot and spun it back the other way, breakd and hit the bank genitly. just had to turn around and cleen some dirt off of the bull bars

also was doing skids on the same corner in the mirage padic basher, went to take off down the road and it understered into the exact same bit of bank  8)
had to cleen dirt off and kick/pull the gaurd out bacause it was rubbing and also had poped tyer off of the bead,
and alot more stories about that same car, including jumps and almost fliping it by pulling handbreak up going down a hill-at witch point the key fell out of the ignition never to be found (lucky we had a spere) and poped a tier off the bead lol

we were bored one day a few years back and thought... "lets put that rb20det in my E30 bmw". Needless to say after a weekends worth of fitting and getting it in and going thanks to some fabrication work we decided to take it for a spin.

Went up Nikau Valley near Waikanae and coming downhill around a corner the turbo kicked in.. drifted the car 3metres down a massive bank then on full throttle the car kicked back the other way and narrowly missed a courier van coming up the road

18 years old...growing up in Paraparaumu = too much time

I then sold the BMW :P
