referring to the physics of radar speed traps this is probably not true. I could be wrong though

How would you trick it? you would need to absorb the laser beam and then send another back after the first has been absorbed. I dont think the devices are that clever.

The four seasons in Australia consist of "$&#$% it's hot", "Can you believe how $&#$% hot it is?", "I won't be in today because it is too $&#$% hot" and "Yes, the dinner plate size spiders come inside to escape from the heat."

It's not a laser beam. It's an RF Signal. Could scramble the signal then send back a fake signal?

Police Cars = KA & LILDAR (Laser)
Speed Cameras = KA & K (K is annoying - that will false a lot)

X = not used as far as I know.

Handheld units are a laser beam(Lidar).
Car mounted units and camera use RF signal.

You can apparently get radar(rf signal) jammers(illegal in NZ) that send back false readings.

The Laser jammers(technically not illegal) will make it appear to the police as if they missed your car. I really can't be bothered googling how they work.

Why would it matter, it wouldn't see you, being stealth and all... though i'm unsure how a landcruiser can be stealth  I wonder if you could paint / shape your car to deflect the signals be it laser or RF like the planes etc

With laser, dont the lasers need to be pointed at a reflective surface something like a light, licence plate? Think there was a write up about this some where.
If you had a car with pop up lights down, without spoltights and the plate missing it was harder to get a lock?

Yeah but then they could ticket you for no license plate.

Go off roading and then nothing will be reflective
