Do you need a diesel 4wd? Is it a typical Auckland one that never sees dirt?

Hey sometimes we have to park on the grass verge!

Only had to lock the difs twice in the last two years, and even then the wife nearly got us stuck when she buried her foot and dug four big holes MAX POWARRR

Only reason we got one is the wife had dreamed of one for a very long time!

Have you seen the size of the speed bumps in remuera? Or the potholes in downtown Auckland?

The question is how can you not need a diesel 4wd...

Don't forget the curbs/cliff-face to get up onto the verge

from what i've read the overall running costs are pretty similar between the two these days. that probably depends on your kms a bit though.

i'd be keen for a diesel myself, but it would need to be something decent - 1kz or similar. your R50 sounds like a goer!

I do 300km a week for work, + if i use it in the weekend. R50 seems to be my best option, my terrano has been great to me, i just want something more modern (and more power )

And my truck definately isn't a remuera tractor, it gets used offroad a fair amount (i do live in the country :lol). First mod will be a set of 31's!

Don't base anything on this..... but mate had a bighorn and went to a (possibly near new) wizard.... he had no end of issues and ended up making them take it back

Got a mate down south that has one for off road fun though so they can't be too bad. Big rubber and lift kit, looks pretty mean!

Yeah i know someone with a Mu (do they all run 2.8s?) and he absolutely loves it. Keen to find what people think of the 3.1 DT. Newer ones seem to run different a motor? (3L vs old 3.1?) Cant say ive ever really noticed Isuzu's

The old 3.1s 4JG2's are pretty tough, they do tend to breathe a ton though - someone was doing breather modification kits for them! My mum had an older Bighorn, it moved pretty well for a behemoth.
The 3 litre 4JX1 motors are horrid, they have oil pressure operated injectors. Wrong oil = no run!

Mate used to have a petrol Bighorn. All I know is that is was thirsty as hell

Took a bit of punishment though, had some mean off road adventures but never really had any major issues.
