Not unheard of for 80k to be spent on a superstock engine

Someone working for Ford better release their COTF with the Coyote 5.0. Base engine starts at 6,500US for 412hp, weighs under 200kg and doesnt need displacement modifications. I dont know if they are allowed to use VVT tho.

Same as Toyota. They have a 5.0 V8 too. Be waaay better if it was used in a FT86 made to COTF specs than a Camry

why, because the FT86 has more w#$k factor??
take some serious production changes to make the FT86 a 4 door wouldn't it??

could they legally do that? I mean would they be allowed to use a lexus body shell? I would think that theoretically all they would have to do is show/find a toyota branded car that used the same basic body shell as the ISF, am I right?

Would make the rules pretty messy if that sort of thing was allowed. No idea if it is or not, just saying. It's either a Toyota or not :P

It's aussie, so no way they'd race that markets Lexus as a Toyota.

If, and I don't see it happening anytime soon, as much as I would love for it to, Toyota get into V8SC, I think it would be via Lexus, as the Lexus brand and product range is more set up for V8's than Toyota currently is.
I think I posted sometime about a hot ISF that was doing laps of the ring, and looked like it could be made into a motorsport version.
And if they're competing with Merc for market share, then surely its gotta be a lexus, rather than a toyota. Plus the constant rumours of Audi getting involved, mean I think it'd be better to enter Lexus, than Toyota.
Only because the there's more to be gained for Lexus in a business sense, than there would be for Toyota.

Motorsport, business sense and car sales figures aren't all tied together that closely.

There is a serious amount of bs going around so who knows lol.
But I don't think its canceled and can't see a merger anytime soon as supertourers won't allow different engine's or faster cars
