celsior/ls400 for towing?

What about a falcon?

They had a factory tow pack that extended the rating on the EL/AU to 2300KG braked. They're ridiculously cheap too.

Mates have been towing starlet race car on a single axle, unbraked trailer with Hilux or Bighorn for yonks with zero issues. Pretty sketchy on the legality of that though.

my UCF20 tows awesome, towed many a car on transporter to the drags (rotorua to auckland), and tows the boat all the time. It gets pushed around far less than mates hilux or challenger, awesome brakes. The torque of the VVTi 1uz in the UCF21 would be even better but mine still has plenty of guts if you don't mind revving it.
