He sped up to a overtake a car he had been following at between 85 and 95kmh.

"I put the foot down to overtake, broke the rules and got caught," he said. The car he was passing had sped up to 105kmh during the passing manoeuvre, a fact noted by the ticketing officer, he said.

How typical. Why the second car was not ticketed for dangerous driving ?

Depends on if it was a single lane or not. If it were passing lanes or just two lanes, then he wasn't being dangerous, he was just being a c**t.
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

serves him right for voting to lower the speed limit
at least he took it on the chin. as was widely touted that our Mayor (Mare) was apprehended under the influence and used her influence to get off the charge, alledgedly she was out and about with the local MP.

How did she allegedly manage that when the top brass at Police have officers knocking on their door for a breath sample after allegedly driving drunk?

yep..

last time the media got hold of something similar, we lost a Police Commissioner.

Mind you mayors seem to get away with all sorts. Seems anyone can be a mayor these days. They even let idiots do it!

Must have been a small gap if he needed to go that fast  With a car like that though I guess it wouldn't take much at all to hit that speed 8O

Nah, even in my GT4 hitting that speed from 105 is matter of few seconds (in third gear obviously).

For sure, When I went from the AE111 LEvin to the STI it's amazing how fast you can accelerate to license loss speed when overtaking 8O

Passing lanes should be unlimited speed for the passing lane side only 8)

That is awesome idea, but our politically correct govt will never implement that.
I would say if you are in wrong side of the road overtaking some one, you should not be bound by speed limit for safety reasons.

But they wouldnt every one just boost around on the wrong side of the road at 200kph. You can't think that will improve road saftey.

Yeah i don't have an issue with them killing off themselves. Its just how many of them would take a car with a family of four in it down with them.
