maybe the speedworks dyno is up the $&#$%.....

Cause last week i got only 115kwish at 6grand (was still heading up at 6 tho, but we stoped it there) on my 4agze turbo.

And if you reckon you are even with blacktops, maybe you are higher than the dyno shows... cause i sure know my car is quick....like more than 115ish quick.

--Sykotic

same as the dyno i used, i got 140kws and i was doign 13.5@174
most other 4agte's were getting 170+ back then, but my 1/4 was better by far.

mine was done at Shore Performance, i got 140kws back those days with a t25g hybrid. Urs was launching way better than my car for sure.

I put on the bigger t3/4 it felt faster but not like WOW faster and did 12.9@180 but never got it on a dyno.

Id say the 7000RPM would be incorrect. If they balls up the diff ratio at 4.6 then its probably more like 7400RPM.

XS1V recently replaced a bluetop in his ae82 with a silvertop, recons the silvertop goes slower

Mmm, Boost wrote:When we dyno'd GT Girl's AE101 FX GT it made peak power at around 7400rpm I think, may have been slightly higher. I dont think Brent is very familiar with Toyotas, hence why not revving it right out, unless it was pinking at that point. I know he refused to dyno one car around here cause it was too noisy (VVT pulley rattle).

My one was peak at 7600, mid you that had a little bit more in the breathing department than hers both sides of the motor, made 93kw on about 3 different ocasions that silvertop which is fairly close to most blacktops with the same mods - oh and for those of you who want brand names of the gear i used was hws gear :) Quite cheap for how well it worked although sometimes i think it could have done with a beter quality finish just for looks. Oh and seeing as people are comparing kw's and 1/4's my best was a 14.77 at 94mph :)

Don't talk crap. Trapspeed on the 1/4 is the ultimate dyno. Times are just how well you can utilise the power.

my first dyno on my old silvertop was 103 kw at wheels at torque performance, then 108kw at wheels, of course it was modded, then my stock blacktop made 102kws at wheels and it felt way slower than my silvertop at 103kws even tho it wasnt.
Its amazing what a smooth torque curve does to your perception of speed.
Thats why turbo's feel as fast as they do when the coming on boost :)

i've never seena dyno being used. does it not use some sort of inductive pick-up to work out the RPM? just some gear ratio pulled out of the operators arse?
meh.....

You can only use the trap speed if comparing mods in the same car. car aerodynamics and power 2 weight will affect trap speed significantly.

FFS aerodynamics ? ahaha make me laugh ...

trap speed is a good test of power.. and yes you need your weight to determine the power of your vehicle from trapspeed

You reckon?? Trap speed is mostly a check to see who can drive there car off the line the best eg; in the same car i have had variations of 9mph trap speed in one day 4 different runs as i got dialled in to grip off the line or lack of, 1st run highest trap worst et 3rd run lowest trap best et. Now you can't possibly tell me that my car gained x amount of horsepower through the day as it got hotter and less humid as the day wore on.
Trap speed will only show you power is greater in one car over the other if the weight is exactly the same and both cars have exactly the same 60 time as each other - oh and no wheel spin for either after the 60 foot mark and only 1 gear with unlimited top end kind of like a big cone drive constantly varying. Otherwise there is to much variable in drivers and cars to compare them this way.

Nah, even if you miss a gear (not within the last 60ft obviously) or spin up bad off the line your trapspeed should still be within a 1 or 2 mph. There's something very wrong if you are getting 9mph variance, like say the timing gear at MMP

Your ET is how well you were able to use the power.
