Yeah the honda bashing is really getting lame. When mum was looking at new cars, a new civic was a hell of alot nicer car than a new corolla thats for sure.

Wouldnt say no to an integra SIR/Type R, Torneo Euro R etc.

At least I am criticising cars that I have personally owned so therefore know enough about to have an opinion 8)

I'm not going out of my way to Honda bash, since I've owned three cars and three bikes with the H badge. But, in standard form, the B16A's I owned have been a total let down.

I gather they are easier to get power out of than a 20v, but standard vs standard, I like the 20v far more to drive.

honda make some fantastic cars, but i dont think 4k will get you anything significantly better than the AE101. the SW20 would be my pick, though a soarer would probably be a bit more user friendly (actually has a useful boot etc)

that being said, finding a decent soarer for 4k could be a mission

I like my MR2 (AW11 though) about 100 times more than I liked by Civic. Even though the Civic is likely to have been a quicker car.

I'd still rather have an N/A SW.

I just find FWD so... Boring :?

While I often bash Hondas, I'd still have an S2000 or NSX any day.

I think my main thing is against FWD's actually :D
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

I was wondering how long it was going to be until someone said something along those lines :P

But no. Its more along the lines of someone coming up to you and saying "You should try taking it up the ass! Its great!"

I already know that I'm not going to enjoy that, so I'll pass.

according to the madame on that 20/20 show about prosties the other night, all guys secretly want anal play.

in my experience, people that bash hondas do so for no reason they can really state short of 'they are gay bro' and tend to not know too much about cars.

i reckon its the owners that cause people to hate on hondas, i wonder if we will see a similar backlash against nissans with the flatpeak crowd being so into them :D

XS1V used to have a S/S AE101 on lowered TRD coilovers.
While it was pretty nice to drive, I didn't find it exciting. :P

So it seems that you and Lloyd are quite wrong. I have driven a 'well setup' one.
It just so happens that I find RWD more entertaining. Therefore, FWD seems boring in comparison. :P

As for the anal thing, after having an ex-gf try to enter uninvited during a 69 with her, I can safely say: No.

Thats really interesting - what is it you like about the 20vs versus the B16As? My personal experience even stock vs stock the 20vs felt more comparable with something from Hondas non-VTEC stables so am kinda shocked that you think that given that I know you had an EF. Did you ever give the EF a chance on the track or anything?

Either way, who buys something like either of those to keep them dead stock? :D

^^ While I prefer RWDs as a whole, I've driven the car in this vid a few times - its FWD and its far from boring.

I find the 20v a much less demanding car to keep on the boil. With the EF's, I found that I really had to row them along with the gearlever even on medium paced road use.

Then when I had the engines really screaming, my butt dyno told me that I liked the 20v more (terribly scientific).

Overall, I prefer the 20v power delivery, particularly when it comes to road car use. It appeared to be a more friendly delivery of power band.

My 20v gave me far better fuel economy than either EF Honda as well (12km/l Civic, 15km/l Corolla highway).

Yep, raced the CRX at Manfeild, raced the Civic at a street sprint.

Who leaves engines stock ... well, I do!

Then, as a general overall impression of cars, the Corolla(s) feel like a rock solid car, which is important considering the gruesome things that happen to cars when they're being raced. The Honda's on the other hand had rattly interiors, finicky bits of trim, electrical gremlins, vibrations, the gearboxes felt like absolute arse, the gear shift was vague, the paint was sh1thouse, and (no kidding) every part I ordered for either car turned out to be wrong. I had three sets of suspension in the Civic in a month ... so even though the Civic in theory was a better car (lighter, more powerful, LSD), I sold it almost immediately because it was frustrating to own, and I didn't trust it to hold together. As a footnote, I then bought a Pulsar Gti ... which is neither a Toyota, nor a Honda.

So, in conclusion cars are a funny old thing really, but I still like my slow and noisy MR2 8) Hairdresser or not. I must be the biggest bum bandit out there according to the cliche's because I've had two MR2's and two MX5's. Bend over.

Wow, lots of replys here,

Yes, ill admit it, im a honda hater. Its not so much the cars that are bad.

the ITr's are nice cars, and i do love the NSX and S2000 ( IMO not real hondas... :D )

Its more the dickheads that drive hondas, Normally heard stating some thing along the lines of. "Bro, VTECCCCC is sooo cooooolll !!1!" etc etc.

Then you proceed to tell them that in a race car, the variable valve timing is taken out, as its not needed.

There like, whaaaatt???

and then im like, ummm.. ohh VTEC...

and dick head honda drivers are like " But bro, vtec is so awesome, why would you take it out..?

But more importantly, FWD's are really boring to drive, my last car was also fwd, although hardly a car at all ( Ae100 5a-fe sprinter.)

With a RWD car, you throw it around a corner, there's a good chance you wont come out of it. FWD, is it a different story.

Any way, I still have my AE101, the deal fell through.

Will be up on trademe and toyspeed some time this week, once it gets a good clean :D

I am defiantly wanting a sw20 turbo, at this stage, i see no reason in selling my car then buying a n/a sw20, for the extra power, if any at all, id rather have the back seats.

I hope to be getting into track racing soon, so the Ae101 wont do to bad as far as a road car will go :D
