Good to hear he got it back. That car has so much history in the NZ drift scene woulda been a shame for it to be written off due to crappy driver / burnt out etc

Hopefully he can get it back to it's former glory

I'd say its likely the thieves have gotten hold of him and he has payed them some money for the return of the vehicle? Possibility?

If someone would do that to me, I would bring cops on this.

As from my experience these sort situation make you with a knife in your side, no money and no car.

The Police need to set up traps for the scum in the areas with alot of cars going missing. It would probably make most of them think twice if there was a chance the police were watching them.

If set up right it would work pretty well

no money in doing a good deed, more money in catching people going 4km/h over the speed limit over the up and coming long weekend I'm afraid.

I don't think all cops are like that. They don't get paid commission after all. Perhaps they are worried of being stabbed/beaten/shot?

They should separate traffic police and criminal police.

probably before you lived in NZ, but they did used to be separate, I think they amalgamated in the late 80s? Can't remember why because I was just a wee lad. Maybe warwick or fivebob or one of the other old folk can chime in

I noticed lately all the cars are now yellow and blue, no VE's in orange.
Yellow and blue used to be highway patrol didn't they?

Yeah part of a government initiative to increase amount of police officers. Dad was a traffic cop but then was put through police college as part of the initiative and became a constable. They short tracked them through police college a bit so not 19 weeks like it is at the moment.

Im pretty sure they are phasing out orange and blue and making them all yellow coloured. But yes this was the old traffic patrol colours.

Police and MOT amalgamated in 1992. The police had to change their height requirements so that the Traffic officers could become police, then all of a sudden there were lots of short policemen with attitude problems
