O to 60 miles, in about 3 hours?

and that's miles, not miles per hour.

STAY AWAY FROM ROVER OR OTHER BRITISH CARS!!!
THEY ARE COMPLETE RUBBISH.

Every single British car we had "pleasure" to trade in or import (more trade ins, we try not to buy rubbish) had some kind of major problem.

You are far better of buying ruski lada, at leas you know what you are getting yourself into (I would rather ride 50cc scooter than own lada - unless I was planning to destroy it in some spectacular way).

the fact that everything else was poor quality does not help the engine being good.

Gee, your starting to sound like me.

Eurotrash is not that bad to fix,
just takes twice as long to diagnose,
you cant get second hand parts,
and you have to wait 3 weeks for the stupidly overpriced new parts to arrive from the dealer.

after that you just move on to the next fault they have.

So not really that bad.

We get a lot of eurotrash stuff in at our work.

heh, the Lada Niva is actually quite a nice little cheap 4wd... nothing seems overly wrong with them, and when the engine craps itself, one of the nissan 2L(CA20?) slots right in including engine mounts and gearbox etc.

A mate used to have one at high school.

The 220 Rovers have some serious issues mechanically. Headgaskets and gearbox's are prone to cause expensive problems.
