Ambulance $80 unless you get a chopper and if you live or die someone still has to pay for ambo but not chopper, at the moment a&e doesn't cost anything, ever wonder why there are so many people of the lower socio economic group waiting at a&e to see a doctor cos they have the flu??

95% sure that a medical exam at a&e does cost. (less than dr, and even less with a community services card)

Only free for injuries covered by ACC

I'm not sure, I've only ever used A&E when I've split my head open or something equally retarded.

Yea had a minor medical emergency one day so went to a&e and because it was medical not accident and sunday and we earn too much for community services card it cost $70

Must be different in Auckland, in palmy the only thing that is charged for at the hospital is if you have to get some dentist type work done, but then they will only do it for comunity service card holders anyway.
I was pretty sure everything was free but had to wait for the missus to get back from work to ask her, she used to do shifts in a&e as a radiographer, now go a much nicer job that has more regular hours in ultrasound, but still at the hospital tho and still does a shift or 2 in a&e when the radiography department runs short

plenty of tax on alchol and tobacco. maybe they need to tax the crap out of moto-x bikes , skis and rugby boots for the injuries that WILL happen from them??

While I think people who play sports should have to pay their way too I'm sure that most of the money is lost to incompetent management making poor investment decisions and too many people creaming too much from the system for dubious things. I'm sick of all this cash grabbing, first carbon tax, then talk of capital gains tax and now talk of massive ACC hikes (in other words, another way to screw motorists royally). Unfortunately ACC has a monopoly and we're all forced to pay into something run by dolts who obviously don't know what they're doing with no obvious accountability to their investors (the taxpayer—you're investing money to save yourself medical bills). I hope that everyone in charge gets the sack, though then they'll probably all get million dollar pay outs anyway.

my opinion is... NZ is one big fail.
I'll be heading back to Aus ASAP. No stupid ACC sucking up my money when I'll never even use it! Better pay, better education systems better weather :P

tvnz, electricity company's, acc, income support, all have had really bad fcuk ups in the last few years, yet heads didn't get chop,

here's hoping that John WILL get the axe out

The problem is, is that if John and co do get the axe out, trim back and fix all the prolific wastage and spending of the past governments, someone is going to lose out, then all the left wing idealistic morons will throw their toys and vote Labour back in, its just a cycle.

Remember earlier this year when there was talk of privatising ACC, and all these retards had a cry about it? Well do you think a privatised ACC would go around losing sums of money like this? I dont bloody think so. Half the middle management idiots who do SFA would lose their jobs, people would have 5 sick days a year like all us normal people, people would work for a normal salary and upper management wouldnt be paying themselves huge bonuses when the company was making the biggest loss in NZ history.

Medical should be privatised, even if it was compulsary but you had the choice of several private companies.

Um the good old US of A ring any bells?

The medical deficit and future billions and billions of dollars needed to quote "to grant every American health care" unquote is going to run the US into the pockets of Russia and China. (currently is)

Yes recently the president of America had to personally ask for loans from China so he can secure what he is trying to deliver.
This is coming from the current conditions of having a private based medical care scenario.

New Zealanders + all the beneficiaries could not afford a private health care system nor can most of them currently afford a doctor’s visit for their child over 12.

Currently have the best option, state care or the option to seek private medical care.

But yes I do believe if you choose to go private you should have the option to opt out of ACC levies and yes levies should be based off risk of job and or major traffic offenses.

That would be a more fair way of working it in my mind, and yes if you work in a high risk job its your choice, usually you are paid for the risk involved and if not why the hell are you doing it?

Private medical care without state care is a big NO.
It is inhumane.
I would rather pay 40% tax, then have to deal with close relative dying of pneumonia/cancer/appendicitis because they simply can't afford hundreds of thousands to pay for care.
USA style health care system is a disaster, mildly put.

Stop the scoter invasion in Auckland and double the ACC levies for those things. The way people ride those things is illegal at the best of times.

Blanket charges suck and people know it.
No one wants to pay for someone else but what’s the alternative, I'm sure a few here would not like some of those possible outcomes e.g. cc rating . turbo etc...

I'm disgruntled, they are going to put more and more idiots on the road with things like this.
I can't say that all these mo-ped / scooter riders ride according to the road code.

How many time have I seen someone falling off one.
I don't understand the mentality of parliament at times.

Force people to pay through the nose or to stop driving and find more dangerous modes of transport ffs.

rant end.

Mentality of parlament? They're just mental hence the reason I'm never voting again. No matter what way it goes they'll do a shit job and steal your money.

As for ACC levies on car registrations, charging by vechile is unfair. You can only drive one car at once so you're no more at risk if you own 5 cars but you have to pay 5x as much. Increase the charges and even more people won't bother to register anyway.

does anyone know where the last hospital was built? not an extention or renovation but a brand new hospital. Or a school?

Last government funded building i know of built was a prison.

No matter what anyone does there are going to be winners and losers. But because New Zealand is Politicly Correct, that cant happen.

PCBS (Politicly Correct Bull Sh*t) stops the natrual order of winners and losers making everyone equal. Hmm, thats communist thinking. Did anyone know Helen Clark did her learning of how governments work in CHINA?

So NZ Communisium works like this, no matter if you are a rubbish collector or brain surgen, you are seen as an equal. altho not in pay, the brain surgen who has sacrificed 10 years medical school, racked up large debt to earn his degree, now gets stung with lots of tax, no social benifits by community services card, has no family (learning for 10 years) so no "working for families" ect et list goes on. Rubbish man has family, low income, so gets all the government handouts. Rubbish man kids grow up thinking the world owe them everything and they dont have to do SFA to get it. They dont need dreams as dreams are something you have to work for and thats too hard.

Ever heard of the saying "only stupid people are breading"? Stupid people are easy to control OR goven. Poor education system, i say poor as most stuff that is actually relevent to how the world works isnt taught in the classroom. like employment rights.

So, dumb people breed, smart people leave. NZ people turn into "sheep" and play follow the leader ie government. Simple form of control.

Scary isnt it?
NZ, we have no defence force. cant have a military coo if there is no military.
cant outspeek of uprisings, revolts or revolutions because this is challenging the Government - the Control.
There was a bill passed in 2007 that can have you arrested and charged without trial for such things. What is it? Anti-terrorism Act.

For anyone interested in horoscopes, there was an interesting piece read. it said over the next 3 years there will be a great change. at the end, the world will be a different place. I see it already in the way money has started this change. who knows what is in store over the next few years?

Perhaps someone can find out where and when a public submission or hearing about ACC is held and go to it?? Its a start.
