That's cause Bridgestone doesn't make my size tyre anymore 215/50R16 can only get 215/55R16 and 225/50R16

Same thing when you go to larger mags and cant find an exact match rolling diameter, you end up going a few mm larger than stock on a 5% lower profile when going up 1 inch in wheel size, same for wider wheels and tread width.

It must be common with the amount of cars with mags larger than the stock wheels that the speedo under reads actual speed.

dude where the hell do you shop for tyres and mags?

I ALWAYS make sure that the rolling diamater is the same or i wont sell it.

If bridgestone dont make that size anymore it dosent mean other tyre brands don't. i wouldnt change the size just cos of that its just not the right thing to do.

ill tell you this...

I left for palmy on saturday arvo... what a shit drive, every five minutes looking at my speedo, oh shit slow down (car has a nice cruise speed of about 110-112) not to mention everyone doing 90

i came back at about tuesday around 5 heading to napier, much easier drive (did worry about slowing down so much and less people being annoying and bunching up at 90ish)

when a cop gave me a speeding ticket the other week he apologized for giving it to me, (we have to check out anyone doing over 114 unfortunately) said i had like 2 months to pay for it so dont worry about it and commended me on not having a ticket in ages LOL

I had cop giving me shit for doing 60, in 50 zone, 20 meters away from 70 sign (so I accelerated up to 60, 20m before 70 sign, then further 50 meters there was 100k sign). He didn't give me fine though, I think he was bored. That happened in middle of nowhere on west coast (south island), a year ago.
Other than that I have no tickets.

Why would pete put the wrong size on a car?? everthing i ever talked to pete about ever he always stressed the size / load rating is most important

He lives with us, so I'd say Pete :P

i say its BS, you can crash at 80 if you dont know what your doing, and its the ones that cant drive at 100 that are dangerous, making ques of traffic with no consideration or anyone else, they cause road rage, make people pass wherever they can and if your anything like me and get board and stop paying attention is also very dangerous..

speed doesn't kill people, $&#$% ups do.

Does anyone drive north between Pekakariki and Paraparumu? Everyone seems to drive really slow between Pekakariki where you go from 80kmh to 100kmh up untill the passing lanes. You can't pass untill you get to the passing lanes but when they get there they speed up to over 100 so you can't pass them. Whats with that?

Used to have hookups at Firestone. They used to do my size in the Grid III range but they phazed that in favour of RE001 Adrenaline which no longer carries my size 215/50R16.

Potenza is good rubber, thats why I've always bought it. I'll see what Pete says next time I need new rubber. I was getting the Adrenalines for $168 each, Normally $280 each.

That would help but who would follow what it says?

This morning I was following a small truck at 60kmh for 15mins when the speed limit is 80 or 100. No respect for other road users.

I move out of the way if someone is obviously coming up behind me faster than what I'm going. I'll even pull over in a 50kmh zone if they are tailgating me.

sometimes u gotta wind out that 3rd gear across the stretch of the O/T lane to pass that slow car at the front doing 80 as its not as safe merging where nobody respects the 2 second following rule.

Not when there is always a cop sitting at the other side of the overpass waiting for people like that. I personlly don't like going any faster than 110 unless I'm passing on a 2 lane road.

over here they sting you with double demerits on long weekends/public holidays, which is a much more sensible deterrent. That and petrol stations like to wack on an added 15c a litre to the gas prices - thats enough of a reason not to go driving in itself!!!

after today, i'm getting sick of people still sitting on 90kmh in a 100 zone, even as slow as 85, and when you pass them, they pull the fingers and yell abuse at you like your in the wrong,

not minding that there is a cue of 6 or seven cars behind them. so frustrating. that causes people to get annoyed and pass where they shouldn't.

Wouldn't that depend on whether or not they are wearing a seatbelt? Though in the end, it will be the sudden stop of hitting the ground with your face that will do it

sergei wrote:Well, I see solution: perhaps more red light cameras, separate traffic cops from real cops, be more strict about lane changes and tailgating, almost everyone tailgates in auckland and cops just ignore that. Also fine people improperly merging, I bet if you put a cop on on ramp, you could milk it big time.

Add to that drivers doing under 80k's on the open road without pulling over and you're bang on. Bad drivers aren't necessarily fast drivers.

Still, I did a fair bit of open road driving on the weekend and definitely noticed the difference. EVERYONE was doing 100kms (according to my speedo). Get to a passing lane and nobody pulls out. I was quite impressed actually. I think everyone was that much more conscious of their speed, you actually got less people doing 90 and holding people up.

To be honest, i cant really complain about the 5k tolerance. The limit is the limit, if you want to speed, speed, you know the rules. the extra 5kph was never making a difference to your travel time anyway.

A big revenue gathering exercise, of course. Can't really complain if it saved a life or two tho.
