Thought this was a pretty cool pic an LFA chasing Alan Jones 1980s F-1 car around Eastern Creek.

Lol whatever, 1 min in and I'm impressed at the speed he's taking that section.
Sure you can put stickier tyres on and bigger wings etc. Fact is it's flying (literally for a split second) and I doubt very much 99% on this forum have even driven anything likely to keep up let alone beat one through there.

Tyres is definitely an improvement that Lexus could have made all there competitors for the Ring Lap record use the stickier Michelin R Compound semi while Lexus stuck with the outdated Bridgestone RE070.

Though I will say this the chief test driver has mentioned the optimal lap time for the Ring edition LFA on those Bridgestone's is a 7.12 but all the same to come out of the pit lane and rip into it like he does I think these Japanese test drivers are pretty special round that track though.

like going thru the sharp hair pin corner at 90kph with 1.3g's on the body.... passenger clapping away.... that would be a much force as roller coaster on ya . For a road car it is impressive driving

I think one thing you will notice is that the test driver is probably only going at 90%.I've had a good look at the record lap and the above passenger lap and a good indication of this is where he picks up 6th gear on the long straight near the finish line.

The passenger lap picks up 6th well up the rise while in the record lap he is in 6th a long way before the bottom of the rise hence the top end speed difference 282 kph in the above clip and 295 kph on his record lap.

I see the LFA prototypes in the US are both up to there 30,000 miles and the only thing been done to them are tyres brake pads and oil.I don't think to many supercar's for that matter can claim that considering the hammering they would have taken.

The record run fully committed.

I find it quite unreal how through most of the lap he is always chasing the go pedal that's one thing I really noticed.

i dont post, but i always look at what you are posting.

years ago when people ask me what my dream car is, i always said i'd rather have 5 cars worth 50k each than one worth 250k. but now i say, LFA.

speaking of - does anyone know where i can find a torrent or something of that national geographic / supercars thing someone posted earlier in the thread?

keen to watch in high def / big screen.
